16. Jail (16)

Kevin's head bobbled about as the SWAT truck zoomed over the speed bumps. Kevin felt scared and wondered if he would be in jail permanently. He slowly turned his head to look at the window and so the horrible sight of prison. A SWAT officer swung the sliding door open and pulled Kevin out. Kevin felt unconformable because of the tight handcuffs. Kevin strolled behind the SWAT officer as he lead him into the jail. When he was in the jail they did a full body check and then put him in his cell. Kevin grunted as they locked the prison cell's door. Kevin stared at the floor for a while and then turned around when he hear someone cough. It was a boy about the same age as him. He appeared to be smaller than Kevin though, and he had blond short spiky hair.

"Hi why are you in here?" Kevin asked nervously not knowing if the boy was going to punch him or something.

"Stealing," replied the boy, "what are you in here for?"

"Helping shutdown Facebook" replied Kevin.

"Cool I heard about that on the news," smiled the boy, "My name's James what's yours"

"Kevin."

Kevin sat down on the bunk bed with the boy. Kevin sighed,

"I have to go to court tomorrow."

"I'v been to court," said James, "it's not as bad as you think, but jail is a lot worse than you think."

"How do you know?" asked Kevin.

"Because this is my 5th time stealing," replied James, "I'v grown up in a poor family and i'v had no choice but to steal for survival."

Kevin felt some sympathy for James. It was silent for a while.

"So your trial's tomorrow?" asked James breaking the silence.

"Yeah," replied Kevin.

"Well let me give you some advice," said James patting Kevin on the back, "if your guilty and you know your guilty admit it because they will shorten your sentence."

The advice sunk into Kevin and then it made him feel sad knowing that he could actually be going to jail.

"Well you better get some sleep, you don't want to be sleeping in court," laughed the boy. Given just smirked and went onto his cold, stiff, grey and dull mattress. There was only one pillow on his bed and even that was quite solid. It took Kevin ages to get to sleep but eventually he did actually get some sleep.

But the morning came all to fast. A loud fire alarm sounding bell rang. Kevin got up slowly but he still hit his head on the bunk bed.

"You better get used to it," said James, "because if you lose your trail this is what it will be like."

Kevin dreaded to think that he would be going to jail but he knew it could easily be a reality. Kevin, James and then a lot of other boys all walked single file to the canteen where they had some toast or serial for breakfast.

"This isn't so bad," said Kevin to James taking a bite of his serial.

"You just wait until some of the other boys sit down," mumbled James. Kevin ate away at his serial and he seemed to be the only one smiling in the whole canteen. Then suddenly Kevin heard some boys arguing and he quickly turned around. Then he saw two boys punching each other, 5 boys having a food fight, 3 boys in a dog pile and it all was madness! Then he saw 10 police guards come running in after the boys.

"Now I know what you mean," said Kevin agreeing with James. Once breakfast was over all the boys went single file back to their cells. Then a police officer came over to Kevin and James's cell and let Kevin out.

"Follow me," he said leading Kevin out of the prison and into a police car. As they were driving Kevin realized that he was heading to the local court house. He began to get more nervous. Kevin felt kind of strange thinking that only a couple of days ago he was in school and a normal school student. His thoughts were suddenly smashed as the police officer parked the car and opened the door. Kevin got out and followed the police officer into the court house. Kevin sat on the left side of the court house and when he looked to the left he noticed that he was versing some expensive lawyers for Facebook. Kevin was on his own, he was his own lawyer.

"We will start with the defendant, will Kevin Nickmit please come to the stand." said the judge. Kevin got up and walked to the stand shaking. Should I lie? Should I just admit that I did it? These thoughts went through his mind as he was standing at the stand lost for words. Then the advise James had given him made him make up his mind.

"I will start and end by saying i'm guilty and I helped crash Facebook with a group of people on the website 'www.ExTrEamHX4ZZ.hax'" said Kevin truthfully.

The judge hesitated, and then spoke,

"Well, I guess that ends this argument. I here by sentence Kevin John Nickmit to a shortened sentence of 5 years in prison."

Everyone got up and started to leave. Then the police man cuffed Kevin and lead him to the police car. When they were driving back to the police station the police man spoke to Kevin. He said,

"that was the right thing to do you know, if you hadn't of said the truth and admitted you were wrong like that you would of been sentenced to 15 years in prison."

Kevin felt a bit more relived because the police officer saying that he was going to go to jail for 15 years and now he's only going to jail for 5 years made Kevin feel like 5 years wasn't that long.

But as Kevin got into his second day of prison he knew it was going to be a long 5 years.
