Pitch Slapped

Delany was a freshman in high school and orientation was where clubs recruited the 'freshies'. Many clubs asked for her to come join but they all seemed to dorky like the chess club or book club. She didn't want to be a nerd like in middle school. She wanted to stand out, shine. That's when one specific club caught her eye, not just because of the guy recruiting with his brunette curls. Just the idea of it all. Being noticed.

9. Remind Me

The theater was quiet when Niall and I entered the room. Everyone talked quietly to there partner. Cher gave Niall and I the death stare. She was really upset with us, you could just tell. Harry smiled at me and I smiled back. Cher laughed. Really? Did she honestly think he charmed his way into getting me here?

"Ladies and gentle people," Cowell announced coming from behind the stage, "Glad to see all my singers here. Let us begin our duets." He smiled cheerfully and out from behind the stage came five other young people two girls, three boys. "You all remember the beat boxers and the main core of our music don't you? We don't use instruments or music, we use there mouths." Cowell pointed to the five people and they waved, upperclassmen.

"Hello." They all said in unison and waved.

"Cher and Harry, you're up first." Mr. Cowell said.

"What a shocker." Niall whispered to me as the both got on stage and told the five people what they would be singing.

They all nodded and then they started with the beats.

"We didn't care if people stared, We'd make out in a crowd somewhere, Somebody'd tell us to get a room, It's hard to believe that was me and you." Harry started singing and he continued it was really good. Then came Cher.

"Remind me... Remind me..." She started singing, "Remember the airport, dropping me off, We were kissing goodbye and we couldn't stop."

"I felt bad cause you missed your flight." Harry sang.

"But that meant we had one more night." They sang together. Their faces were inches from each other and they sang so good. They continued on with the song and then they ended it.

Everyone was clapping and cheering. I glanced over at Niall and he rolled his eyes. Mr. Cowell studied them for a moment as they waited for his feedback.

"Harry, you did a fantastic job on your part, but Cher you were a bit pitchy. What's been happening to your voice?" He said.

"I thought I did amazing," she told him, "I have nothing wrong with my voice."

"Well, if you insist." Cowell said as they sat down.

"Lou and Kayla, your up." Mr. Cowell moved on to the next duet.
