Pitch Slapped

Delany was a freshman in high school and orientation was where clubs recruited the 'freshies'. Many clubs asked for her to come join but they all seemed to dorky like the chess club or book club. She didn't want to be a nerd like in middle school. She wanted to stand out, shine. That's when one specific club caught her eye, not just because of the guy recruiting with his brunette curls. Just the idea of it all. Being noticed.

16. DNA

I did not see Harry at all today. Usually he came and sat  with me at lunch, but today he was no where to be found. I mean I'm not upset that I didn't get to see him its just that he is my only friend here so far.

I took a seat in the auditorium where everyone else was already situated. I took a seat by myself and Niall came and sat by me.

"Hey Laney Bug." He smiled.

"Don't call me that." I told him.

"You ready to sing your song?" He asked ignoring what I said.

"Yep." I replied.

"What's it about?"

"Love." I answered.

"Really? Mine too. I think most people are singing something about love because it's easier to write your feelings down than just to make something random up." Niall said.

"Yeah. I think everyone can agree with that." I laughed. I looked over at the door as it opened assuming Cowell was finally here, but it wasn't. It was Harry. He looked up at me and smiled as he took a seat by Louis in the front row. Was there something wrong with him? Was he upset that I didn't kiss him?

"Ladies and gentle people, we are gathered here today to hear each and everyone of your hand written songs. So please don't be shy volunteers will go first and then I'll start picking." He smiled with greed.

Cher shot her hand up first without any hesitation. Cowell looked around the whole room trying to get someone besides Cher to go first. That was when the blond in front of me raised her hand.

"Ah, Perrie, would you like to go first?" Cowell smiled at her.

"Yes, I would." She smiled and walked on stage grabbing the mic.

"What will you be singing for us?" Cowell asked, excitement in his eyes due to the fact that Cher was not going first.

I glanced over at Cher and she looked upset because she didn't get to go first.

"I will be singing DNA by Perrie Edwards." She said.

No beat boxers were on stage. I assumed it was because they didn't know our songs so they couldn't give us a decent beat.

"Does he tell you he loves you when you least expect it," She started, "Does he flutter your heart when he kisses your neck."

"No scientists, or biology. It's obvious when he's holding me. It's only natural that I'm so affected.Ooh." She belted out. She walked around stage, she was good. Real good.

"It's in his DNA, d d DNA. It's in his DNA. And he just took my breath away b-b-breath away. I feel it everyday, and that's what makes a man. Not hard to understand. Perfect in every way. I see it in his face. Nothing more to say. It's in his d-d-d DNA." She sang the chorus, I'm assuming.

The song was perfect. I could see Zayn, I think that's his name, sitting in front of me smiling. Are him and Perrie dating? I looked back up at Perrie as she finished her song. Everyone stood up and clapped for her as she stood waiting for Cowell's feedback. After everyone stopped clapping and took a seat Cowell began.

"Perrie, where did you learn to sing like that! You have some awesome pipes! Why haven't I heard you sing like that before?" He asked smiling.

"You never gave me a chance to." She replied back.

"Well I am sorry. That song was perfect. Was it about anyone particular?" Cowell said.

"Yeah, it was." She blushed and looked at Zayn. Everyone all started shouting Zayn. "Oh shut up." She yelled as she sat the mic down and headed back and gave Zayn a kiss. Yep they were definitely dating.
