The Lost Kiss ~COMPLETE~

Niall and Lily have been best friends since they were in Kindergarten. Freshman homecoming came around, and Niall asked Lily if she would be his date but go as friends. They had an awesome time, and after, Niall and Lily went to take a walk at a park. Lily's family was moving to Texas later that week for her parent's work, and she wanted to tell Niall something before she left. After she tells him, she runs away from him embarrassed and scared on what he will say. What happens when Niall and Lily meet 3 years later?

15. "What I'm Trying to Say Is..."

Lily's POV

I changed into sweats and a t-shirt, and got in my car. As I started the car, I  paused. What could Niall want that was so important? I shrugged it off and drove to the park. I turned on the radio and coincidentally, "What Makes You Beautiful" came on. I laughed to myself thinking the last time it came on the car when Stacey was with me.

I parked the car and headed towards the lake. Back in Mullingar, Niall and I would always go there. It was our little place to get away from the world. Every time we had a problem, we would always come to the spot. We even marked it on the tree. 'Niall's & Lily's Place' That's what it was called. I remember the last time we were there together. Niall had told me he liked Maddie, a girl in school. Maddie was a nice girl. I didn't talk to her quite often, but when I did, she was nice. She wasn't one of those snobby popular girls.  I could see why Niall could like her. But I kinda did feel a little jealous when he told me.

"So how should I ask her out? I mean, if it was you, how would you like to get asked out by from a guy?" he had asked me.

"Well, I guess you could first ask her on a date, and then ask her to be your girlfriend." I remember looking at his blue sparkling eyes.

"Where should I take her?"

"Take her someplace simple, like Chick-Fil-A or the movies."

He ended up taking her to the movies, to watch a movie I didn't really care about. After, he asked her to be his girlfriend. They only lasted for about two months, until they decided to be just friends. I'll admit it, I was jealous. Niall wouldn't spend as much time with me as he usually did. She couldn't make it to Homecoming, so Niall asked me to be his date. The day before my parents told me we were moving, and you know the story from there.

I walked around half the lake looking for Niall, and was about to give up until I heard something move behind me. I turned around to see a shadow, not far away from me.

"Niall?" I whispered, slowly walking towards him.

"Hey Lily." he seemed nervous. Yes, I've seen him nervous many times before, but not this kind of nervous.

"So, what's the big news?"

He turned around and put his hands in his hair. I walked closer to him.

"Niall, is everything okay?"

"Yeah." he stuttered a bit.

"You don't seem so okay."

"Well, I just don't know how to tell you I mean.. I just don't."

I looked at him. His blue eyes sparkled in the night.

"You can tell me anything Niall, you know that already."

"I know but this is kind of different."

We just stood their in silence for a few minutes.

"Lily? I- Do you know how many times I looked at you and thought you were the most beautiful girl I've ever seen? You even look beautiful in those sweats. Do you know how many times I tried to tell you before, but I never could because I was scared on what you were going to say? That's why I dated Maddie. I thought I could forget about you but all I could do was think about you. Sometimes I saw your face instead of Maddie's. And when you kissed me at homecoming, I thought you had the same feelings to. I mean, you kissed me. But then you ran away from me and we lost touch. But I always thought about you every single day. I even told the boys about you. And when I kissed you that day I first saw you again. I kinda hoped you didn't run, and you didn't, which, ya know. I was kinda glad. But then I found it harder to tell you. I wanted to tell you this morning, but I couldn't. I was still scared. What I'm trying to say is..."

Niall's POV

I had to tell her in person, and tonight was the only way I had the urge and bravery to tell her. I had called her, hoping she would come. Thankfully, she agreed.

I got to the park and I paced back and forth. What would she say? I paced back in forth for about fifteen minutes until I heard a whisper, "Niall?"
She was here. I had to let it out sooner or later.

"Hey Lily."

"So, what's the big news?"

I turned my back to her and put my face in her hands. Come on, Niall. You can tell her.

"Niall, is everything okay?" she asked. I could listen to her voice all day.

"You don't seem so okay." dang, she knew me so well.

"Well, I just don't know how to tell you I mean.. I just don't."

"You can tell me anything Niall, you know that already."

"I know, but this is kind of different." no, not kind of different. Really different.

I kept silent, and Lily stood there waiting for me to speak.

Come on Niall! Tell her now.

I told her the most randomest stuff ever. It probably made no sense what so ever.

"What I'm trying to say is.."

I took a big breath before saying,

" I love you Lily, I really do."
