37. Chapter 37: three weeks later

Chapter 37: three weeks later.

It’s been 3 weeks since the boys left. And I haven’t gotten a single call, text or a mention from Louis. Not one. Not. A. Single. One. I was heartbroken after the first week. He promised me a call, a text or a skype call a day. And how many days has it been now? It’s been three freaking weeks. I guess it wasn’t love after all.

I still won’t ever forget that one interview they did a few days after they left.

Interviewer: So you all came from Australia, is that right?

Liam: Yeah, we did. We met lovely people.

Interviewer: And Louis, I’m sure you met a certain lovely person.

Louis: Yeah.

Interviewer: You tweeted she was your girlfriend, didn’t you?

Louis: Yeah, but that was all a joke. We were just messing around. It was one of those times when you stay in a certain place for a while and you meet new people that you really do get along with.

Interviewer: So, you’re saying it was an Australian fling?

Louis: Yeah, I guess you could say that.

Throughout that whole exchange, I was glaring holes at him through the tv. What. A. Jerk. So much for thinking he loved me! What the hell was that interview!? He asks me to be his girlfriend and he tells me he loves me but it turns out I was just an ‘Australian fling’ How dare he!? How dare f*cking he!? My heart beated with anger but my stomach turned with sadness. I just couldn’t believe that he told me loves me but then tells everyone, the whole world, that I was just a fling!

Now, I look like the biggest joke on twitter. I knew I shouldn’t have had anything to do with them! Now just their names makes me want to snap something in half.

‘It’s probably just management telling him to say that?’ Georgia offered when she rushed over after she watched the interview. I huffed in response.

‘Louis didn’t mean that.’ Jenna said as she tried to comfort me. i shook my head and laughed bitterly.

‘I’m sure, that’s why he had amusement in his eyes.’ I said angrily.

‘It wasn’t amusement, I thought he looked upset.’ Elise said as she stroked my back. I snorted in response.

‘Upset, my ass. I was only a fling to him.’ I growled and pushed myself off the couch and walked back to my room.

I never spoke about them since. I only spoke to Liam once, to tell him that I don’t want to take the photography job. He protested at first and said stuff along the lines of ‘Louis didn’t mean that’ but I tuned him out and told him I couldn’t do it. I also told him about my small photography studio I started. It was a family portrait one. He said he was sorry and yadda yadda yadda but I wasn’t mad at him. I was mad at Louis and I was even more mad at myself. I was mad at Louis for making it seem like I was just some girl he met. For making it seem like we were just a joke. I told him my life story for effs sake! I told him a lot about myself. I trusted him.

Which is why I’m mad at myself. I shouldn’t have trusted him. i shouldn’t have trusted anyone for that matter. I shouldn’t have let him in. I should’ve known it wouldn’t last long. I should’ve known not to trust and love a famous person. I just should’ve known.

Now, it’s almost the day I was supposed to go on tour with them to take photos but I’m not doing that anymore. Neither is Jenna. I told her she didn’t have to turn down the job because I did but she told me that she has another job anyway. I didn’t question it further but I can tell she was beyond pissed.

‘Hello?’ I answered my phone as it was vibrating for a while now.

‘Ali? It’s me.’ A vaguely familiar voice said.

‘Who’s me?’ I asked the person.

‘It’s Janelle.’ The person answered. I froze in my tracks with wide eyes. Ever since the day she walked out saying sorry, I’ve always second guessed her actions. So as I heard her voice, I don’t know whether to be scared or to treat her like a normal friend/acquaintance.

‘Janelle? Why are you calling?’ I decided to play it cool, as if we’ve never fought or we’ve never talked before.

‘Um, please don’t find this creepy of me. But I handed a few of your photography shots to this person I know in Paris and they want you to be their photographer for their magazine.’ She gushed out and my eyes slowly widened.

‘Are you serious?’ I asked, the excitement obvious in my voice.

‘Yes, I’m very serious. They want you there in december. And tell Jenna that I handed some of her stuff as well and they want her to be their designer/stylist person.’ She told me. My lips stretched into a grin.

‘Oh my gosh! Thank you so much, Janelle!’ I said gleefully.

‘It’s nothing. After all the trouble I’ve caused, I felt as though I needed to make it up to you.’ I can hear the guilt in her voice.

‘Oh, honey. It’s okay. We’ve forgiven you way long ago.’ I told her.

‘Thank you. You two are too nice for your own good.’ She sighed.

‘It’s how we are.’ I said, shrugging my shoulders even though i know she couldn’t see me.

‘Okay. Um, good luck with this, I know you’ll be big. Tell Jenna the same thing.’ She said.

‘Sure thing.’ I answered her.

‘Oh, and Ali?’ She said before I hung up.

‘Yeah?’ I asked.

‘I watched that interview of the boys. I don’t know if he was supposed to do that but if he didn’t then, I just want you to know that he’s a toolbag. He shouldn’t have said that or done that.’ She said. My heart tightened at the mention of this. Even though she never said his name, I still get that heart shattering beat of my heart.

‘What’s done is done. I gotta go. Bye, Janelle. Thank you so much for this!’ I said, the dismissal being blatantly obvious.

‘Oh, yeah sure. You’re welcome.’ She said and she hung up.

I turned towards the door and was surprised to see Jenna standing there with her eyebrow raised.

‘Janelle? Thank you? They don’t usually get to be in the same sentence...’ Jenna said and I chuckled lightly.

‘That’s because Janelle gave us the best job in the world!’ I grinned.

‘Oh yeah? What is it?’ Her voice perked up.

‘I get to be a photographer for a magazine in Paris and you get to be their stylist!’ I told her. Her eyes went huge.

‘Janelle did that for us?’ She said, a smile slowly creeping up on her face. I nodded vigorously.

‘Wow. Never expected that.’ The smile finally plastered itself on her face.

‘I know right! I’m so excited. We don’t have to go until December and since my mum is coming back in two weeks, we’ll wait until then to leave.’ I planned aloud.

‘That sounds about right. We’re getting jobs in Paris!’ Jenna squealed. I giggled at her antics.

‘We better study our French.’ I said.

‘Yeah, we should. But as if you do, you got an A when you studied it.’ She rolled her eyes.

‘And you got a B, so it doesn’t really matter. I need to remember how, you know.’ I pushed her playfully.

‘True, true.’ She nodded her head.

‘Come on, it’s French time. Or as they say, il est temps de français.’ I grinned

‘Yeah, okay. I get it, no need to rub it in.’ She giggled slightly.

We both ventured off downstairs into the living room to learn French again.
