Im still an innocent.

Based on a favourite song of mine.
'Lost your balance on a tightrope, never too late to get it back.'

3. Wasn't it easier in your fire-fly catching days?

Waking up for a second time that day, I realised I had fallen asleep on the floor of my hospital room. The sun was beginning to set in the sky, and a mysterious orange light was reflecting off of the walls. Little orbs of light bounced of the walls as light shone of off objects outside. The way they flew round the room like tiny fireflies. Wasn't it easier in your fire-fly catching days? When you would run around trying to catch them in a jar. When everything was out of reach, someone bigger would bring it down to you, without the struggle of trying to reach something that was just too high. Wasnt it beautiful running wild until you fell asleep, before the monsters caught up with you.

Whilst thinking to myself, the same nurse from earlier appeared to take away my plate of food. Seeing that the food was still on the plate, she gave an awkward sigh. She knew her job was to make me eat the food so I could take the tablets, and she wouldn't be able to leave until I took them. She looked from me on the floor, to the plate of food, and then back to me. I thought she was going to moan, or demand I get up, but instead she slid down the wall like I had previously done, and sat in a heap next to me.

'It's not always going to be this bad' she said. 'Time eventually turns flames to embers, and you'll have new septembers. At the end of the day, every one of us has messed up too.' I sighed. 'Lights change like the weather' she continued. 'I hope you'll always remember, today is never too late to, be someone brand new.' As she finished that she stood up, and left the room, leaving the plate on the foor. I picked up the apple, closed my eyes and took a bite.
