30. The Boyfriend I Remember

Noah carried me to his motorcycle and we rode to his apartment. The ride made me feel like a wild and reckless teenager. My hair ferociously blew in the wind as I gripped the fabric of his hoodie. I sighed and took in his smell as the sweet memories lingered throughout my thoughts, causing me to smile. The vibration of the bike roared beneath me as he swerved around the cars. I closed my eyes and peacefully rested my head against his back.

We got back to his place and we made lunch together. He tried to undress me playfully in the process but I didn't allow him to, but I did let him take off his shirt to reveal his muscles. It left me breathless as I continued to slap meat onto the sandwiches we'd been making. He passed me a variety of condiments and started saying goofy things that made me laugh. He began imitating cartoon characters and the volume of my giggle increased. "Geez, you sound like Lily." He chuckled as he closed the fridge. "Where is she anyways?" Then I had no other choice but to tell him about my mom and how Lily didn't want to come with me. He was shocked to find out that Mom came back and he tried hard not to make me feel uncomfortable with talking about the sensitive situation. I kissed his cheek and passed him his lunch as he got us each a drink. I peeked in his fridge and noticed no sign of liquor.

"No beers?" he shook his head.

"Nah, I stopped. I'm really trying to change. I wanna quit smoking too." He sat down and took his first bite. I looked up the the picture of us on the wall.

"You never took that down?" I asked, confused at the fact that he'd kept it up for so long.

"Yeah, so I can see it everyday." I smiled at him and watched as he shot a sweet wink at me. We finished our food and cuddled in his room. I remembered all the times I'd slept there with him with Lily between us at night. We never really had much privacy at his place, but that didn't seem to bother him.

We watched a movie and it seemed to finish rather quickly. So we laid back and smacked our hands together repeatedly as we laughed about stuff and told each other stupid jokes while he played soft music. He later held onto my hand and kissed it multiple times as I smiled at his adorableness. This was the boyfriend I knew and loved. The sweet, gentle, sober boyfriend that I remembered. That I had fun with. The one that I actually wanted to be with.
