37. Phone Call

I got home and tossed my keys on the table. I looked around for my mom, but she wasn't there. After plopping myself on the couch, my phone started ringing. "Hello?"

"Hi, Amber. It's Heather."

"Oh hey."

"Are you busy on Monday? Because that seems to be my only free day for our lunch."

"Um, I suppose I'm not busy. Yeah, that sounds great." I said awkwardly.

"Brilliant. I'll see you at work tomorrow."

"Okay, bye Heather." As soon as I ended the call, I heard Lily gagging. I was instantly scared because she never throws up. And I am NOT good with throw up. I tiptoed over to the bathroom and knelt down to rub her back. When she finished, I tried not to be too disgusted as I wiped her face. Then she fell into my arms and cried.

"I don't feel good, Amber." she sniffled.

"I know, baby girl." I sighed and picked her up, then brought her over to our room and laid her down in her bed. Her little pout broke my heart. "I'll go get you some milk and start a bath." She nodded and I went over to the kitchen and got her some warm milk. Then I started a bath.  Geez, I thought, I never get a break.

It was about 7:30 when Zayn called. Lily sat silent in the tub, no splashing or giggling. "Hi." I said as I answered the phone.

"Hello Gorgeous." he began, making me feel somewhat uncomfortable. "How are you?"

"Fine, but Lily's not. What the hell did you feed her?"

"Hey," he giggled. "I didn't do anything. She just ate too fast, I'm sure she'll be fine by tomorrow."

"Hmm. How's your nose?"

"Okay, I guess. It still hurts. But I'll live."

"Good." Our conversation went on all through the night. Even after Lily fell asleep. "Are you tired yet?" I asked, around 10:00.

"Yeah, I had a rough day." he chuckled, "But I'm not hanging up."  He said sweetly. After several seconds of silence, he added. "Come over tomorrow."

"I don't know..." I thought about it for a second. "Maybe I will. I think we need to talk."

"Talk about what? I don't want to talk. I just wanna hold you... and kiss you. I miss you Amber."

"It's only been like, two days."

"We have to talk about... Us. Zayn, I don't even know how I feel about all of this. I've only known you for a week."

"Yeah, and I already know that we are meant to be together." he paused, "I want you to come with me."

"To England."

"Zayn, this is crazy!' I couldn't believe this was happening. "Earlier today... when you said you loved me, did you REALLY mean that?"

"Of course I did!" he assured me. "I love you, and I don't know how you feel about me but..." He sighed. "Maybe we do need to talk about us."

"We already are." I giggled accidentally and he joined me. "I'm so confused." I rubbed my eyes and took a deep breath.

"I know you are. Go to sleep, love."

"Goodnight, Zayn."

"Goodnight, Gorgeous."

My mind was jumbled and my heart was going absolutely berserk. I cried myself to sleep that night... And there is no possible way to describe why I did.
