25. I Left Her

Zayn's POV: I didn't want to leave her. I felt like a part of her eyes were telling me to stay. As I was driving to the diner a couple blocks over, I smiled at the thought of Lily and the things she whispered in my ear. "That's my Mommy... Isn't she pretty? ...Just like Amber."

As soon as I parked in front of the diner, my phone buzzed. It was Amber. She told me she'd call me if anything happened. I immediately answered it. "Hey."

"Zayn." She was crying. I could hear her loud sobs through the phone. She could barely talk.

"I'll be there in two minutes." I started my car back up and drove fast... and irresponsibly.

AMBER'S POV: I sat on the sidewalk and waited for Zayn with my face buried in my knees. I cried loud, because I didn't care if anyone saw me or heard me. I replayed the moment with Lily over and over in my head. Her little head shaking. She didn't want to come with me. How could she... She would rather....  I brain went mad as Zayn pulled up in front of me, almost driving up on the curb. He hopped out and knelt beside me. I climbed onto him, so that my arms were tightly wrapped around his neck and my legs around his waist. I was breathing hard and my nails were digging into his back. "Shhh.... its okay."

"I left her." I gasped for air and continued sobbing. "I left her!" i repeated. Then my sadness turned into anger so I hit his shoulder.

"Ow. What was that for?" He picked me up and set me down on my feet. I hugged him and apologized. Then he walked me to the passenger side of the car and helped me in. He drove slow as I stared out the window and let the last tear fall.
