12. Chapter 12

"All of your jobs will be different and fairly simple. People at this conveyor belt will be taking batteries from this bucket and placing them on the conveyor belt. First ten people - step up," Romano explained. I stepped up with nine others and began my job. Romano continued the tour and my watch started beeping. I pressed the button on top to find a message from Agent 12.

"You thought you were on your own didn't you? We managed to hack into the system and we can now observe you through the cameras, but don't expect too much help. There's a small roll of tape on the table behind you. Take it and tape either one of the ends of each battery so the weapons will not function."

I started my job with new instructions. Twenty minutes later, I got another message.

"Nicely done, Agent 527. We can barely tell that you are taping the batteries. Now this is vital information. You have a partner. His name is Apollo or Agent 23. He was assigned to the same conveyor belt as you. He is directly across from you. If you closely examine the batteries he is placing he is also taping them."

I looked up and saw a tall, fair-haired male in front of me. I looked at a battery and saw a piece of tape on one of the ends. My watch beeped.

"Ask him 'How is the cow?'. He should answer 'She walks, she talks, she's full of chalk; the lacteal fluid extracted from the female of the bovine species is highly prolific tot he nth degree.'"

I hesitated, but then cleared my throat and said, "How is the cow?"

His response was, "She walks, she talks, she's full of chalk; the lacteal fluid extracted from the female of the bovine species is highly prolific tot he nth degree," and a quick nod.
