Silent as the Night

Vanessa is a 12 year old Vampire with a lot to loose. This year she must leave her comfortable and safe place at the Vampire School, and enter the world of humans... "You see in vampire school, you graduate at the age of 12 and then you have to go in a human school. This is considered as the `coming of age` for Vampire children, even though we are still in school. Ancient tradition laid down by many generations of Vampires states this to be a momentous occasion and a reason to celebrate, but truthfully, it`s a nightmare." Quote from story

1. Graduating from Vampire School.

~vanessa~

Today is the day, the day that I finally graduate from Vampire School. No, don’t think that, I`m not 18, I`m 12. You see in vampire school, you graduate at the age of 12 and then you have to go in a human school. This is considered as the `coming of age` for Vampire children, even though we are still in school. Ancient tradition laid down by many generations of Vampires states this to be a momentous occasion and a reason to celebrate, but truthfully, it`s a nightmare.

No, really, it is. I have been having truly dreadful nightmares for weeks. The eldest of the Vampires dreads that we might be found out by the world in general. So he sends all 12 year old vampires dreams about us sucking the life blood out of a human, and that blood killing us. The elders think that we haven’t found out, but us kids found out generations ago. The one thing we have not found out, is why we must go to human school anyway. My parents say it`s training, but, training for what?

I think it might be training for us to not bite humans, but why would putting us in the middle of a sea of humans, help us to not bite them? I mean, we might start thinking `It`s only one human, no-one will notice if I only bite one.....`  There is a law that says we can only bite one human per year, but once you bite one, it is almost imposible to stop!

In fact, for about four generations, my family has not bitten a single human, not one! That is because about 2000 years ago (vampire live for ages, didn´t you know that?) my something great grandfather went mad near a human and tried to drink his blood, in-front of 50 humans!!! The humans sent him to a mental hospital, and when he was´nt dying, the humans got suspicious, so the elders sent another vampire to stake him, then that vampire went mad......

So, the point is, we almost got discovered. My mother would flip if she knew that I even wanted to know what human blood tasted like. But that not my fault! It is only natural that I want to taste human blood....
