1. Chapter One

I want up with a jolt. Beads of sweat come down my temple. I've had the nightmare many times before. Making the wrong choose. That wrong choose makes death.

I get dressed into a black blouse and white trousers. A simple outfit of what the Candor wear. I rub my sweaty palms against my thighs and I walk down the narrow stairs, into the kitchen. In there, my Mother, Samantha, is making breakfast. "Hello dear, are you ready for this big day?" She says confidently, and I bite my tongue. I know she feels that I am very Candor, or The Honest. I have always wanted a different Faction, I knew I didn't belong here. I didn't like to think the truth, and nothing but the truth, or speak it. I have a very vivid imagination but I am not allowed to use it. I must be realistic, and only realistic. I could not live in the future or past, just the present. I sit down on our wooden chairs and my mom sets down a plate of eggs and bacon on the mahogany table. I smile thankfully and nod my head to her. I never really could have a decent conversation with my Mother. Ever since my Father's death, I have blocked almost everybody out of my life.

Almost everybody.

Not my best friend, Todd. He was always there for me, and I mean always. He would walk me to school and walk home with me. We talked (In privately of course.) about Faction we wanted to go to, and he wanted to go to Dauntless. I always told him I didn't care, but he never believed me. "I know you like one more than the others. Everybody does." He would always say and I would respond, "You will know when I choose." He always smiled at my comment and I would laugh. "What?" I would ask, trying to sound annoyed but failing at it. "You are so stubborn sometimes." And I would smile.

I eat my eggs and bacon quickly and I get up, grabbing a napkin and dabbing my mouth. I throw the napkin away and I say goodbye. I walk outside and I see Todd waiting for me at the bus stop. I smile and wave, running over to him. "Hey." He says in a slow accent. "Hello." I respond, rather peppy. "I can't wait for our results!" I practicly jump with excitement and he laughs. We walk onto the new bus and I walk to an empty seat. An Abnegation gets up beside me to let him be seated. He smiles and sits down. "I hope I get to see you again." I whisper quietly. He just nods and looks down. "You know, I would choose any Faction to stay with you. Your my best friend." He says, breaking the silence. I nod, not knowing what to say. We finally reach the building we go into and I jump off the bus and walk in. I go into the elevator and go to floor 20 with Todd. I hug him close and he rubs circles on my back. "See you soon." He whispers and I nod. I walk out of the elevator and sit down with the girls of my Faction, waiting for them to call my name.
