15. Childhood Memories

~Niall's POV~

Emily's whole family didn't seem to like the idea, we'd already been in L.A for a week together. After dinner, Emily helped her mom with the dishes and her father called me out to the back porch. "Now listen her, I think you're a good man. You have things figured out and a way to provide for her. But no father wants to see his daughter crushed. So, if it doesn't feel right, don't lead her on. End it. Oh, and protect her like you would your mom or sister. Don't let anyone touch her." he said. He began to tear up, I had to feel somewhat sorry for him.

Emily walked out and she called me in. "I want to show you something." she smiled. We walked up some curvy stairs and walked down a hall into a pink room. It had a built in desk to your left and a small antique bed in front of you. She went and sat on the bed. "This was my room." she smiled. I sat by her, "You had some good memories in this house huh?" I asked. She nodded, tears forming. She quickly pushed them away and got herself together. "Ross and I had to share a bathroom, but when he left for college I had it to myself." it seemed like she was going through memories the whole time. Like a walk down memory lane. She had shelves of old toys and cars and SO MANY books! Her closet was full of old clothes and her brother's baseball trophy's. Emily had a strong connection with this house. She always would. "Niall, Emily! Come down please!" her mother called.

Her father had taken out the pie and put 19 candles on it. "Niall, we know your birthday is soon, and since you won't be here to celebrate, we figured why not now?" said her mom as she lit the candles. "You guys are so thoughtful!" I blushed.

The empty pie plate lay on the counter, that was so kind of them! I looked at Emily, I had never seen her SO happy. EVER. Her family was really close and you could see that. "Em, I think we should go."  I said. She nodded, "Yes! Bye everyone!" we hugged everyone bye and I could see the sadness in Emily's eyes when we left. "You know, I'll arrange for them to fly out and see us sometime." she nodded, "That would be lovely." she smiled. She was so beautiful and calm and just the perfect woman. Her red hair was perfect in her loose bun with pearl earrings. Then it hit me, when we left, her father had said, "Bye my little red." That's why she get's that look on her face when someone calls her Red! My Emily had been through much so I would do as her brother's and parents had asked. I would protect her!
