All Hail Barracutus *On Hold*

War is ripe for the planet of Sempiterna. For generations the twelve major tribes/species (Unless you believe in the tales of the Wizards who say there are thirteen) have very little knowledge of the meaning of the word "peace". Only recently has the tribe of the Svets Deus brought about an era of peace.
In the meanwhile, Barracutus, a normal Kyanos Diamon, struggles to solve the past about the ancient forefathers of Sempiterna. Though could the knowledge of the ancient forefathers be a bigger mystery than he had originally thought it to be? Read throughout to uncover the history of Sempiterna in the first book of an epic trilogy.

13. Chapter 11: A Black World

"Gather my friends." Radd, the leader of the Black Dragons, commanded as he chanted, "As the darkness lingers in the streets and the fire spreads, we have the honor to fight alongside Eusebius once more. I understand the fear that must dwell inside of you at the moment, but do not fear death on the field. Death is only one side of Evol, and so sprouts the seed of Evol in our probable death."

"And our orders sir?" the Black Dragons asked without hesitation.

"Our orders are to simply provide a diversion while supplying the small chance that Eusebius will live to fight with us. For now, the darkness provided by the smoke will be our friend. Follow me quickly and do not look back."

The Black Dragons took a knee while Xeterex prayed to the Wondrous Seven. After the prayer, the Black Dragons ran out of the capitol building into the smoke-filled streets of Heaven's Peak. The haze became thicker as they followed the noise of battle off in the distance. The Black Dragon's eyes watered and three of them fell to be left behind for their inability to breathe. The streets were completely bare and unoccupied.

The Dragons continued to travel down the hazy streets until they reached the city square. The cries of Svets Deus were heard moaning as they tried to crawl to shelter. Swords were found impaled through the hearts and chests of the deceased. While the Dragons still continued through the square, one of the wounded commanders grabbed the ankles of Radd and faintly said, "D.. do my division a favor.. and... give them a spe... speedy arrival to Evol..." The commander then thrust his sword as he gave a relieving sigh of death.

Radd bent down and took a knee as he stroked his hand gently across the commander's face. He then ordered grimly, "Do as the commander wished." The Black Dragons then went about the square to find any survivors and raised their swords... "Come then we must continue our search for Eusebius."

The Black Dragons left the town square and followed Radd. Amongst the company of warriors one came close to Radd and asked him, "How do you have no fear before you die?"

"I am not entirely sure I completely understand your question, young warrior." Radd replied hastily.

"Back in the town square... when I rose my sword to finish..." The warrior stumbled and tripped over his words, "He didn't look very fearless to me, and sadly I was afraid I would only cause more pain and suffering. Then when I drove the sword to his heart... I could only see pain in his eyes."

"I still do not perceive what you are trying to gain from me."

"Well I guess... How do you do it?"

Radd stopped abruptly and glared at the warrior, "Fear has always lived within me since I had been born. You must learn to accept and welcome fear as if it was your own, and only then will you be able to control your emotion of fear. However, if you welcome fear in carelessly then you will be consumed. Too often will warriors welcome fear and let it control themselves... Though you act as if fear and death are different; they are not. Fear and death go in the same hand because they are the emotions controlled by Natas. Your name young warrior?"

"Dod, my name is Dod, sir."

Radd put his hand on Dod's shoulder and said with the slightest sympathy, "Well Dod, then you and I share an peculiar likeness. Now, onward my warriors."

Off in the distance, a campfire was seen through the thick haze. The warriors approached cautiously and noticed it was what was left of Eusebius's forces. The Black Dragons searched the camp and asked if Eusebius was there. The normal warriors did not know if he was or wasn't, so Radd appeared before the appointed commander.  Unfortunately, the commander did not bear good news. He told Radd that Eusebius headed with a few others to gain supplies from the enemy camp. Even with his power, the commander admitted that the chances of Eusebius's return was slim and unlikely.

Quietness filled the camp as the figure reentered the camp. A voice came from behind Radd and the commander, "I suggest you tell him the truth, for those acts are nothing but the past." Eusebius came into the light and placed a sack of supplies on the table while he continued, "I should be sorry that this was all I could manage to obtain." The commander was astonished that Eusebius was so soon to come back. "I can see you had your doubts about me commander," Eusebius commented. He then noticed Radd and asked very seriously, "Xeterex sent you I presume and what of the Kyanos Diamons?"

Radd responded, "Xeterex issued the order to divide the remaining Dragons into three groups. The Diamons will be protected by one of these groups and power be spread with the other."

"And the other group?" Eusebius asked again.

"To fight alongside you in the name of Evol, my lord. This division was made all by personal volunteers. You should be proud."

Eusebius thought for a while and questioned, "Where does Xeterex plan to escape the city, the main gates?"

"Yes, my lord. And the Kyanos Diamons will try the Western gate. Though Xeterex holds the power of Sempiterna."

"Very well then," Eusebius put his hand on his sword and went on, "In order to ensure Xeterex's escape, we will provide a diversion which may also save the Kyanos Diamons. Power must be kept in Sempiterna and the Order of the Dragons will see to it that it will stay for all of history. Are your warriors willing to join me and my army?"

Radd replied both proudly and boastfully, "They would not have it any other way." Thus, the Black Dragons and the army of Eusebius mounted themselves and headed to what would become a desolated battlefield.

On their way to the battlefied, Dod said to Radd, "Thank you for teaching me to accept fear."

Radd turned toward him and resonded, "Do not thank me yet."

"But I must, I won't be able to later."

Radd was stunned at his response and smirked, "Well you have learned much then."

Eusebius shouted aloud before the army charged, "May the will of Evol be done and may the Seven be with you!"
