The Writer's Rant

There are so many things writers do to piss me off. Starting with cliches and bad humor, this is just a guide/rant to some things.

I personally do some of these things so if you want to call me stuff, all you'll get is the bird ;)

It's my first book having to do with humor and ranting but I hope to just write. I will not be advertising this because if you want to read, you will.

End of story, start reading.

3. Part Three of the Writer's Rant

I've been busy with school and the Huffington Post contest. I really hope I win!

I still am going to write this, just for fun and because I LOVE to rant. This part isn't going to have any specific theme, just because. I think it may focus more about other things than personalities.

11. Evil Parental Figures...

Come on! How many times has this happened? Think about the Mortal Instruments (Clary's Dad), Divergent (Marcus, Four's dad, who actually wasn't the main villain), not to mention so MANY fanfics. It's like everyone thinks they can pull a shocking cliffhanger with writing this...

"As the murderer took off his mask, I stared right in the face of my father." Really? As if no one saw that coming. It's like everyone wants to pull a 'Luke, I am your father." Don't rip off Star Wars. Not cool, not cool at all.

I don't see how people are bashing parental figures. It's also like the abusive parents. I'm not saying they don't exist but I doubt the main character can't just go to the police station and tell someone. We have so many PSA's about that. Why do they keep their pain bottled up? It's just so terrible.

I've read fanfictions where the kid has to kill the parents. That's also part of the cliche. It's like all authors think 'I can fix a cliche by making it a bigger one!' No logic, absolutely no logic. No matter how well written a cliche is (and most of them are incredibly well written) it's still a cliche.

12. People Who Complain About Every Single Thing... Oh Wait...

Ignore this...

13. The Freaky Boarding School...

This cliche isn't as popular but I have seen it a few times. It's like a girl or guy is seemingly normal but they get an invitation to a magical boarding school, or one for the elite. But get this, they're either on scholarship or it's a magic school.

Why does everyone think they can pull a Harry Potter? And it's always the same! There's a letter which says 'you have been accepted to ____ school for ____.' or you get called down from school and whisked away to a school at a remote location.

I have read a few of these kinds of stories on wattpad. They're actually not bad. I find that most cliche stories are written by AMAZING authors but that doesn't take away the fact it's still a cliche! Some stories I've read are Serenity Falls (on wattpad) and Burn Into Me (wattpad).

14. Using Different Languages and Putting the Translations Beside It...

Bonjour (AN: hi), je (AN: My) m'appelle (AN: Name is) Amelia.

Does that NOT annoy you? It's unprofessional and just downright annoying! The better way to do it is to * the sentence and at the bottom of the page, include a glossary. it's just nicer and looks better. Or even better, don't do anything and make the author look it up.

I know using other languages is actually really cool though. I wish I knew more. All I know is some amateur french. Using different languages actually does make the story more interesting, but there's a right way to do something too.

15. Using Extra Letters...

Sooo howww mmuch dooesss thisss bugg yooouuuuuuu????

I've seen people do this. And the weird thing is that some people who do it are actually more than fifteen years old. Hm, that's strange to me. It isn't texting, it's writing a novel and people should take it seriously, or note that it's just casual.

I know people who are completely serious about writing, yet they speak like what I demonstrated. I don't know who invented this but when this happens more than once you know something's up. I mean the first time you think 'yeah, it's a spelling mistake,' but after that?

No, just no...

Thanks for reading,

Until next time! :)
