3. Daniel

When I got to school it was quarter til 7. I walked into my History class. I was learning American History. I had originally been taking English history for my first couple of times through high school, but I was doing so well that my teachers were beginning to think I cheated. I was actually doing so well because I had lived through it. For the first couple of centuries of my life as a Vampire, I had stayed close to home. But now I’m branching out and going around the world. I’m taking it upon myself to learn the history of every country in the world. I have 13 down. Since I’m staying in America, I figured I might as well learn it here.

I sat down in my seat and pulled out a book as I waited for the class to start. I was actually reading a Vampire book, because I find it so funny how mortals portray my people.

“Hey Zoë,” said a voice I knew all too well. It was Daniel, one of my ex’s. He was the perfect guy: handsome, sweet, funny, captain of the football team, every girl’s dream guy, and I had dumped him. I had to do it, though. I didn’t want too, but he just smelt too good. I couldn’t count how many times I wanted to bite and drain him on a daily basis. I couldn’t trust myself not to hurt him, so I had to let him go. He still doesn’t know why I dumped him, but he keeps trying to get me back.

Something about being a Vampire that has a downside is I’m rather beautiful. Not to sound conceited, but it’s true. It’s something about the poison that enhances our physical features to the point of near perfection. It attracts lots of attention and isn’t always the easiest to deal with, but I manage. “I was wondering if you wanted to get some pizza or something this weekend?” Daniel asked. He had a hopeful gleam in his eye, and I would hate to see it crushed, yet again.

“Well…” just as I was trying to come up with a reasonable excuse our teacher, Mr. Bradley, walked in. Thank goodness!

“Everyone please take your seats, class is about to begin.” he said in a clear, stern voice.

“Sorry,” I whispered to Daniel as he headed for his seat.

As Mr. Bradley started class I found myself getting somewhat distracted. That usually didn’t happen, but I had so much on my mind right now. With my dreams getting worse and worse I had a feeling that something was going to happen, and I wasn’t going to like it.
