Just a Coincidence

When 17 year old Maddi is told that she has to move back to her childhood town in Ireland, will her life be changed for better or for worse? Will she be willing to leave her Australian life behind? Or will something happen to make the move that little bit easier.

My first Movellas novel. Sorry if it's bad...

9. Good On You Greg

"Yeah, so then he called me a bitch!" Maddi fumed, "And... and.. then he just walked out! I don't even know his name!"

Greg shook his head, he had been listening to Maddi rant about this guy for 45 minutes and to be honest he was more interested in the text messages from Niall. Inside he was cracking up in laughter because they were both fuming about the exact same thing! It was only Maddi that had no clue that Niall was Niall.

"Umm, Maddi?" Greg interrupted.

"Yes?" she stopped.

"Do you mind if I invited someone?" he said with a smirk.

"Not at all?" Maddi looked extremely confused. "Why...?"

"Oh no reason." he chuckled.

"Greg Horan! Tell me why you're laughing!" Maddi said sternly.

He stopped and cleared his throat. "It's nothing. Promise."

Maddi looked at him, still confused. "Right... Anyways. Yeah and he gave me this really weird look like he knew all about me. It was weird. He doesn't know me by the way. How could he? I only met him like last week."

Greg just sat there, nodding at what she was saying.

"I'm just ranting at myself aren't I?" Maddi whispered, giggling when she saw Greg glance up from his phone.

"Um, kinda yeh. Sorry. It's just my um mate is coming soon." Greg answered apologetically.

"Oh cool, how far away is he? I really would like to meet more people... I mean, I kinda made the mistake of not keeping in contact with my old friends here." Maddi sighed but was interrupted suddenly by Greg clearing his throat.

Maddi looked up to see a guy walking towards them. Maddi froze. Greg chuckled under his breath.

"Maddi. You remember Niall don't you?" Greg pushed his brother towards Maddi. "You were best friends."

Maddi and Niall stood silent for a minute, glaring at each other.

"How could you not tell me who you were?!"Maddi exclaimed. stumbling backwards slightly, only to be supported by the seat behind her.

"How could you not remember me?!" Niall shouted back, steeping forward as Maddi leaned against the seat.

"I didn't mean it! You dyed your hair! It was 8 years ago! I'm so.." Maddi questioned herself for a moment, re-evaluating what she was going to say. "Wait, why the hell am I sorry?"

"Cause you forgot about me?" Niall filled in sarcastically, continuing to glare.

"You called me an arrogant bitch!" She bellowed back, feeling the anger rise up.

"You were being one! And you're the one that decided to steal my food! Don't you remember that I hate that or has Australia ruined your ability to think?" He replied to the same tone that she did. By now most of the birds had flown to the other side of the continent because of their shouting.

Maddi was overly flustered and knew that something bad would blurt out of her mouth soon- no amount of breathes would stop the mouth vomit that was about to come out.

"But I didn't know you, Niall! I didn't know you! How can you expect me to remember every little detail about your little life which, for me, ended 8 years ago! And frankly Niall, I don't caa.." Maddi stopped abruptly when Niall clasped his hand over her mouth.

"Your going to say something you'll regret and I'll end up walking away- is that what you want?" He said firmly.

Maddi shook her head roughly and clawed Niall's hand off her mouth- Maddi looked at her feet, trying to hold back the tears that were threatening to fall onto her cheeks.

"No, I don't want that- this time I'm going to walk away, before we both say something we regret." Maddi whispered, lifting her head up to face Niall's now softened expression. Before he could say anything else, Maddi turned on her heel and started the long walk to her house.

"You know this isn't going to change anything!" She heard Niall shout out from behind her.

Maddi smirked, "It's a love hate relationship, Niall! Nothing will change this!" She argued.

"Wait! We should catch up!" He yelled back, causing Maddi to stop.

Maddi turned to face him, stunned to see him running towards her.

"Um, no thanks." She said, confused by the fact that he was actually running after her.

"How about my number?" He questioned, pushing the chance to catch up on the years he lost when Maddi moved to Australia.

"I'm alright." She concluded, turning around and falling back into her walking pattern. She suddenly felt a hand on her shoulder.

"Please..." Niall begged. "I've missed you" he pulled her into a hug. She immediately pulled out of it.

"Me too Niall. But right now, this is just all a bit too much to take in. I need some thinking time, some me time. I just need to go home."

Niall couldn't do anything else. He watched her walk back down the street and soon turned away, determined that he wouldn't give up on her.

Time for brotherly advice.
