My Rock

Maria is a 16 year old girl who lost her brother in a car crash. Her father blamed her and turned to alcohol. He abuses her when he's drunk. Her mom is subject to emotional break downs and can't be there to defend Maria some times. Just as Maria is about to give up hope she meets the One Direction boys, and finds something to keep her going. And who knows? She might just find a little romance in the process.

12. My Rock

Niall’s POV: As we were looking at the stars I started to realize something. I was really falling for Maria. Not like a little school boy crush, but I genuinely fancy her. “Maria,” I said, looking over at her. She was asleep. She actually looked at peace. I pulled a blanket over her and then fell asleep.

*next morning* I woke up to the sun coming up over the trees surrounding the field. It was gorgeous. I looked around for Maria. She wasn’t there! I started to freak out a little. Then I smelt something good…breakfast!! I smelt eggs and bacon. I looked at the fire and, sure enough, there was Maria frying up some eggs.

“Morning, sleepy head. You woke up just in time to see the most beautiful part of my camping trip.” she smiled. At first I thought she was talking about herself, but then I realized she meant the sunrise. I was glad I didn’t say anything and make a fool of myself.

“Yeah, it was amazayn!” I winked at her. She laughed and continued cooking. I went over and took most of the bacon.

“Hey!” she said, grabbing some of the bacon from my hand, “I don’t know how you eat in England or Ireland, but here in America it’s considered polite to share.” I pouted at her, I wanted bacon. “Eat that, then if you’re still hungry I’ll make more. Plus there are eggs cooking.” I have to admit, for bacon made over an open fire, it was quite good.

“So,” I said, “What are we going to do today?”

“Well, I have a piano lesson, and a double header volleyball match today. And I’m sure you have some important international superstar business to attend to.” she said, sarcastically.

“Actually, today’s my free day. So I guess I’ll be attending a piano lesson and a volleyball game.” I smiled.

She blushed and looked down. “Match,” she corrected. “Volleyball match.”
