2. My Rock

Maria’s POV: “GET OUT OF THE HOUSE YOU UGLY SLUT!!!!” Dad was in a particularly bad mood today. We were out of beer, so he sent me to get some, but I accidentally picked up the wrong kind, and he got pissed. I went to my room to grab my wallet and car keys, then left. I didn’t know where I was going to go quite yet, so I just drove around. Finally I decided on a field I used to go to as a kid with…Michael. *sniff* He would take me there when mom and dad had to go away for work and he was left in charge. Michael was great and always had time for me. We went here at least 100 times. I parked my car in the nearest parking lot, which was about 500 yards away. I walked the rest of the way to the field. But when I got there it was full of vans ON THE GRASS!!! That was a big deal for me because Michael always told me that our field was beautiful, and if you drove over it, you would kill the grass and flowers, and it would lose its beauty. So I went to the nearest person I saw to ask what the heck was going on and why they were ruining the beauty of my precious field.

“You’re not allowed to be here, miss.” A big, muscular man caught my attention. “This is a closed set.” Closed set?? what was he talking about? This was my field, I was the only one in L.A. who came out here, and I know because I once spent 2 weeks camping out here when my dad got extremely mad at me one night.

“This is a public field.” I tell him. “You have no right to tell me I can’t come here, I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl”

“It will only be for a couple of hours, miss. We are shooting a music video, and we will be out of here by 5, then you can come back.” A music video? Then I heard it. A sweet melody with 5 harmonious voices. Oh great. I can’t come back until 5? It was 11! Where was I going to go for the next 6 hours?

“You know what??” I nearly yell, “Fine! I’ll go find somewhere else to cry?” I was mad because this was the only place I felt at peace enough to cry, and I really needed to. I stormed off until I heard a masculine voice calling me back.
