3. The Boys

“Hahahaha!” Dee laughed, “Oh Jules that was a good one, but really who’d you run into?”

“Dee, I’m serious……it was Harry Styles.” I said.

“You mean like ‘Harry Styles from One Direction’ Harry Styles?” she asked, I nodded in response. She practically stared at me with her mouth gapping open for about 5 minutes.

“Um, Dee, you alright?” I asked.

She continued to stare at me, “You just met Harry fricking Styles and you’re asking if I’m alright? How the hell can you be so chill about the situation?!”

“Um, what do you mean.” I asked, clearly confused by her reaction.

“Jules, YOU. JUST. MET. HARRY. STYLES.” She yelled, “This is like, the event of the century! Did you get his number! What he say to you! Was he GORGEOUS!?” she continued to bombard me with questions.

“Woah woah woah, Dee calm yourself.” I said, “I’m honestly not taking this as such a big deal. He was just a normal guy, he acted normal, had a normal conversation with me, and yes, I did get his number like any normal person.”

She raised her eyebrows staring at me again with a creepy smile on her face, “But, was he GORGEOUS?” she asked again.

            “Maybe a little……” I said looking down.

“HAHA! I knew it!” she cheered. “You loved every second of it, just admit Jules. I’m sure the whole entire time you were all like ‘OMG IT’S HARRY STYLES!’ on the inside.”

“Well….ok maybe,” I said, “But at least I acted like a normal person, you of course would never have been able to do so.”

“Bitch puhlease! I would’ve been the most normal person there.” Dee responded overdramatically.

“Umm…..sure.” I said sarcastically. We laughed at our ridiculousness, and then continued to talk about my run-in with Harry Styles. Suddenly my phone loudly buzzed on the counter, and we both immediately turned our heads and stared at it. Dee shot me another creepy smile, indicating she was determined to answer the text I had just gotten, probably assuming it was Harry.

“Don’t you dare,” I warned her. But, of course she didn’t listen. Dee flung herself across the room and to the counter, grabbing the phone before I could even get near it. I chased her around our empty apartment, screaming at her to give me back my phone.

“’Hey Juliet, I had a great time talking with you today. Maybe wanna hang out tonight with the boys? –Harry xx’” she read while I was still chasing her. “AWWW!!!! So cute! I’ll respond for you.” She said evilly.

“Cassidee don’t you dare!!” I yelled jumping at her and grabbing her legs, forcing her to tumble over, with me on top of her. I snatched my phone out of her hands and noticed the text she managed to send him.

‘Hey there sexyaekjfhf skdjh’ Was what came out, most likely because I jumped on her as she was typing. I quickly sent Harry another text explaining the previous one.

‘So sorry, my idiot friend took my phone. –Jules xx’

“Hey, um, love bug, could you possibly get your ass off of me?” Dee said.

I scolded her, “Nope!” I said popping the ‘p’.

She just laid there glaring at me, “Don’t make me take that phone from you again.” She threatened.

“Uggg, fine,” I moaned. “But only because you’re extremely uncomfortable.”

Dee glared at me again as I stood up, “Don’t give me that look young lady,” I said, “you took my phone from me.”

“Jules, you know me well enough to figure out that if it’s a text from a boy, I will ALWAYS try and embarrass you.” She said.

“Sadly, yes I do,” I chuckled.

“But that’s what best friends do!” she said smiling cheekily.

I laughed at this, and felt my phone buzz again. I looked at the text, ‘Oh, it’s completely fine, happens all the time ;) But what do ya say bout tonight? –Harry xx’ I smiled at the text, and looked up to see, yet again, Dee smiling creepily.

“Someone’s getting it on tonight,” she said as she continued smiling.

“Cassidee!” I yelled, “No I am not! He was just wondering if I wanted to hang out with him and his friends tonight.”

“Sure,” she said still smiling, “OH! Can you ask if I may join you?!” she asked eagerly.

“Not sure if I want you there, but sure, whatever.” I respond. I texted Harry back asking about the details. ‘Sure, I’d love to :) Can my friend join? –Jules xx’

I quickly got a text back, ‘Of course :) But I’m not too sure if you want her tagging along, considering what happened earlier ;) –Harry xx’ I laughed at this.

            “What?” Dee asked.

“Oh, nothing, nothing.” I said still smiling at the text. She glared at me, knowing I was hiding something.

‘Haha, I’m sure the other boys will keep her occupied ;) Oh, and what’s the address? –Jules xx’ I responded.

Harry sent me the address and told me to come over around 7. I was more than eager, I glanced at the clock noticing it was only about 3 in the afternoon. I could barely wait 4 hours, I didn’t want to admit it, but I was extremely excited to hang out with Harry. I knew it wasn’t a date or anything, but to me it was the most action I had gotten for months.

“So what’d he say?” Dee asked.

“He wants to come over around 7.” I responded.

Dee glanced at the clock. “Ok good! Just enough time for me to get ready!” She yelled as she ran into the bathroom. I laughed at this, knowing about Dee and having to look perfect at all times, especially when boys were evolved. In fact the only person she ever looked like crap around was me because we were best friends. I on the other hand, didn’t really care as much. I mean sure I didn’t want to look a homeless drug addict who just rolled off the streets, but I didn’t want to overdo it. I also was just too lazy to spend so much time on myself.

I decided I would go change out of the clothes I had worn on the very long flight, and into some decent clothes. I decided I would go for just simple dark wash skinny jeans, a t-shirt with a grey cardigan over it, white converse, and a beanie over my long, soft, brown curls. I brushed a bit of mascara over my eyelashes, and was set, nothing really too exciting.

Seeing I still had about three and a half hours until we had to leave, and that Cassidee would take forever, I decided to unpack my suitcase and put my clothes into the closet of my empty room. The rest of me and Dee’s clothes and all of our furniture were being shipped to our apartment later during the week, so we were just planning on sleeping on the floor until it came.

After I was done with that task, I went back out into the hall to see if Dee was finished yet. It was still only 4:30, but I was extremely bored with nothing to do. I loudly knocked on the bathroom door.

“WHAT!” Dee yelled loudly from the other side.

“Are you almost done!?” I yelled back.

“Umm, yeah just about why?” She said.

“Well I kind of wanted to grab something to eat before we headed over, cause I’m starving.” I said.

“OH MY GOD LETS GO TO NANDOS!” she yelled excitingly.

I laughed, Dee had always wanted to go to Nandos, ever since our One Direction fangirling days. “Ok that sounds fine.” I responded.

I waited about ten minutes before Dee finally stepped out of the bathroom, makeup perfectly done, her long blond hair perfectly straight, and wearing a tank top, printed shorts, her favorite purple supras, and a snapback.

            “Ready to go?” I asked

“Yup!” she said excitedly, “I’m ready for some NANDOS!”

“Hahaha, of course you are Dee,” I laughed.

After we were done eating we ended up getting a cab to go over to the boys’ house. I gave the driver his address and we were on our way, the whole entire time I was containing my excitement, which obviously failed.

            “Eager much?” Dee laughed.

I just glared at her. “No, I’m just-“

“Jules shutup, I know you’re like flipping out on the inside, we’re about to hang out with One Direction, who wouldn’t be?!” she cut my off.

“It’s just, I don’t want to seem like the kid I was when I was 14, when I was obsessed with them.”

“I was exactly the same Jules, and to be honest, there’s a bit of that still lingering.” She winked.

We finally arrived at the house, which was pretty impressive, not massive, but definitely nicer than anything I had ever lived in. We walked up to the front door and rang the door bell.

“Now, now, who do we have here?” Louis answered the door, “Where’d the hot chicks come from?”

I laughed at this, probably blushing too, “Um, Harry invited us.”

“Oh, of course,” he said. “HAZ! YOUR DATE’S HERE!” he yelled.

I heard footsteps coming down the stairs, “She’s not my date, Lou.” He said coming to the door, “Just a friend.”

I smiled at the fact that he already considered me a friend. “Hey,” I said.

“Hello Juliet,” Harry said smiling, “please come in.” I gladly stepped through the door, admiring the extremely nice house.

“Wow, sweet place,” Dee said, “I’m Cassidee, but you can call me Dee.” She said extending her hand out to Harry.

“Hello Dee, I guess you’re the friend Juliet was talking about.” He said.

“That’d be me.” She said smiling cheekily.

“And you must be the infamous Juliet Harry can’t stop talking about,” Louis said extending his hand towards me, “I’m Louis, the jealous boyfriend.”

I laughed at this, “Well, I’ll try not to split you two up,” I said winking.

We all laughed at this. “Let’s go introduce you to everybody.” Harry said, leading me and Dee into the living room where everyone else was.

Niall, Liam, and Zayn were all sitting on sitting on the couch, along with Danielle and Eleanor. I guessed Zayn’s girlfriend Perrie was somewhere else. They all looked up when we came in. “Hello,” I said smiling at everyone.

            “Hi!” they all said smiling.

“Are you Harry’s friend?” Eleanor said smiling as she got up off the couch.

“Yeah, I guess. I’m Juliet, but you can call me Jules.” I said extending my hand out to her.

“Aw come on, you can do better than that, come here.” She said, pulling me in for a hug. “I’m Eleanor by the way, Louis girlfriend.”

“Um, yeah I know who all of you are,” I said smiling nervously.

“Oh good!” Niall chimed in, “Less work for us then.” We all chuckled at this. “So who’s the other beautiful girl?” Niall said, motioning towards Dee and smiling.

Dee’s cheeks flushed bright red at this, “Um, I’m Cassidee, but everybody calls me Dee.” She said looking down.

“Well don’t be shy, come sit, there’s plenty of room.” He said patting the spot next to him.

Dee walked over and sat down next Niall, who smiled at her again, while took the other empty spot next to Harry.

“So Jules, what brings you and Dee to London?” Liam asked, “Cause I can tell by your accents you’re from here.”

“Well, we just moved here from Florida.” I answered, “Dee and I have wanted to come here since we were like 14.”

“It’s because you wanted to meet us isn’t it?” Harry said smiling cheekily.

“No, actually we just wanted to get out of America, I mean we love it there, I guess we just wanted to try something new. You guys were just icing on the cake.” I said winking.

“Oh please Jules, this is like your dream right here. You’ve been fantasizing about this day for years.” Dee said. Everyone laughed which made my cheeks flush red.

“No I have not,” I said, “maybe I used to be obsessed, but trust me, I’m not anymore.”

“Dang it,” Harry said sarcastically, “I was hoping you were, cause ya know we can never have enough screaming girls.” we all laughed.

“Trust me Styles, you have no shortage of girls.” I said, everyone laughing again.

We all continued to talk and crack jokes at each other, and after about 10 minutes everyone was dying of laughter.

“We should play truth or dare,” Niall suggested after everyone had stopped laughing.

Everyone was up for it, since we had nothing better to do. The guys pretty much always chose dare, while the girls and I picked truth most of the time. We all laughed as the guys continued to do stupid and ridiculous dares they would come up for each other. And when I was asked, and chose truth, most of the questions were typical like how many guys have you kissed, most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done, stuff like that. I wasn’t really concerned about answering any of the questions, until Harry asked the one I had really not wanted to hear.

“How’d you get your scar?” he asked pointing to the pink line right next to my left eye.

I tensed up a bit when he said this. I had completely forgotten that it was there, for everyone to see. I usually tried to cover it up a bit, but I guess I had forgotten. I looked over at Dee who sensed my worry and gave me a reassuring smile, knowing that I had to tell, I couldn’t lie to them.

“Well,” I started, “when I was younger, my dad was an alcoholic and was very abusive to me and my older brother when our mom wasn’t around.” I could sense everyone eyes turn on me, but I still continued, “One night he just got mad at me for no apparent reason and ended up pushing me, which made me fall over and hit my head on the fireplace mantel. My brother must have called the police because I woke up in the hospital the next day with my mom right next to me, holding my hand. She of course divorced him, and he ended up going to jail for it, so everything’s ok now.” And even though it was, and I didn’t need to worry about it, I still felt tears forming in my eyes, remembering my awful childhood. Well, it was awful until I met Dee of course, but that was a different story.

“Oh my god, I’m so sorry I had no idea,” Harry said.

“Oh no it’s completely fine,” I said giving him a reassuring smile.

“So does your mom still live in the U.S?” Liam asked.

“Yeah, she still lives in our same house. My brother’s in the military, so I don’t see him much, but we keep in touch.” I answered.

And that was about it, nobody really asked me anymore questions about the situation, which I was glad about. There was a bit more to the story, but I wasn’t going to share the rest of it to people I didn’t really know all that well, even if they were from a famous boy band. Everyone ended up getting back to the game, and we all started laughing in no time. I hadn’t even noticed that Harry and put his arm around me, which was definitely fine with me. I don’t really know how long we stayed up talking, but after a while I ended up falling asleep on Harry’s shoulder. I dreamed about him that night, which I didn’t mind at all. I could tell I was really going to love London.
