Gleaming Eyes

Natalie is my best friend, but no one is perfect. With her mood, even the pigment in her soft grey eyes change. It pulls at me, dragging me down, bringing me up, taking me from a sobbing wreck into fits of giggles and smiles.

5. Green Eyes

Inter-linked with his arm, giggling stupidly, was Christina. She was a snotty, spoilt girl who was always wearing the latest, and most expensive clothes on the market. Her parents ran rich and successful companies, and boy did Christina let everyone know. Her fair hair tumbled in abundance down her shoulders, her brown eyes gleaming foolishly. She muttered flirty comments like: "Oh, Caleb, you are funny," and sweeping his hair out of his eyes playfully.

Staring at them, Natalie's distant, rosy glow left her eyes, and changed to a million shades of green. Emerald, olive, lime, mint, and everything in between. Her eyelids narrowed, as she glared with hate at Christina.

Hate and jealousy, that is. Her eyes were green with envy, as was her mind and soul. She still longed for Caleb, and now she had lost him to another.

Okay, I admit I was a teensy bit jealous too. Well, more than a bit. A lot. Somehow, I found myself glaring too. The brat (Christina) made some snide comment at us, but I was barely listening.

When they walked off, I muttered: "Come on, Nat. Let's not stay here any longer." as I got up off the bench. Walking through the gate, we both sneered at the couple snogging in the bushes.
