Nightmare of the Past

Ally has had the same dream for haunts her and she can't find the meaning for it. Her friend Mel might have an explanation but will she realize what it's about before the dream takes over?

1. The Nightmare

The forest thickened and I began losing all hope. My legs were numb and sweat ran down my forehead. I couldn’t go much farther, but I had to.

Terrible thoughts of being lost forever overwhelmed me. I decided I needed to take a break. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw an old abandoned cottage and decided to rest there.

It was pretty much empty, besides a rocking chair and a chest. I was curious to what was inside the chest, but it was locked and I had no energy in me to try to open it. I just let it be.

I fell asleep and not too long afterwards, I was awoken by a loud thud. I quickly got up to see what it was. I heard it again and suddenly everything started to shake and the rocking chair was thrown across the room. I ran out screaming trying to get away, but something was pulling me back.

A soft voice was calling my name as I was getting pulled back into the cottage.

“Ally, Ally, are you ok?” someone said.

I woke up and realized my dad was sitting beside me looking worried.

“Oh, thank God.” I said under my breath.

“Ally, what happened? You were screaming!” my dad said worried.

   “Oh, it’s…. it’s nothing. I’m fine.” I lied.

I quickly got out of bed and went downstairs for breakfast, avoiding any more questions.

As I devoured a bowl of cereal, I tried to come up with the reason why I'm having this dream every night, but I came up with nothing. These dreams have been going on for nearly two years and I'm not sure how much more I can handle. This has changed my life. I used to be the happy, bubbly, and worry free life and then I became the dark and quiet girl that sits in the back of the classroom. Luckily, my best friend, Mel, hasn't left my side.

Mel is perfect. She has long bright red hair and hazel eyes with the most amazing fashion sense. Mel knows how to make you smile and gives the best advice. I wish I was more like her.

Thinking about Mel made me miss her, so I decided to head over to her house. Besides I needed her right now. The nightmare really shook me up and she's the only one that knows about what's really going on.
