2. The Boy On the Bike

I was running my way across a rocky road when I tripped and fell. The tan skin that covered my knee was now scraped and blood seeped through my broken cells. I picked myself up and tried to walk but it burned. If I stretched out my leg, the scraped skin would crinkle and send chills of agony through my knee. I drug myself to the nearest hill and sat upon it, examining the scrape. I finally gained the bravery to bend my leg, it felt like someone had just scraped my skin violently with a cheese grader. A tear rolled down my cheek. I looked up and saw a faint light in the distance, it was cruising closer very quickly. I soon realized it was a bike that a young boy was riding. The bike slowed down and the boy jumped off, coming to my rescue.

"Are you okay? What are you doing out here so late?" He asked curiously, looking into my watery eyes. He then looked down at my scraped knee and gasped.

"Get on my bike, I have to fix that cut. Don't want that getting infected." He said, reaching out for my hand, offering to help me up.

I normally would pass up on that kind of offer but I needed a band aid and antibiotic urgently. The boy didn't seem mean or creepy like the last one so I accepted his offer. I grabbed his hand as he pulled me up from the ground. I wiped the dirt off my bottom and slipped my pink flip flops on my feet. I then reached for my book but the boy beat me to it.

He held the book in his hands, looking at it as he said "The Last Song, I love Nicholas Sparks. You have good taste. My name is Ryan by the way."

I smiled as he shook my hand. "Amber." I replied.

He motioned his hand towards the bike, indicating for me to hop on the handles. He hovered over the bike, balancing it to make it easier for me to get on. I placed my hands that were hidden under my oversized hoodie on the grips on the handle bars and made my attempt to get on the bike. After slipping the first time, I succeeded the second. Ryan made sure I was comfortable, and then started to pedal down a dirt path.
