Love and Loss

Amber comes to stay with her aunt for the summer and stumbles upon two brothers who lead a simple life. She falls in love with one, who turns out to be her summer romance. A sudden tragic event occurs, leaving all love an afterthought.

4. I guess Cole isn't that bad after all

The three us swayed back and forth on the swing silently. I started laughing, I couldn't control it. The both of them looked at me like I was a freak.

"What's the coincidence that I would stumble upon the both of you in one night, being related?" I asked.

They both began to laugh. We then went on ranting about ourselves. I explained to them that I was only here for the summer to visit my aunt. We shared the main facts, our full names, favorite colors, and hobbies.

Turns out, I have a lot more in common with Cole than I first thought. He told me he wasn't trying to come off as rude down by the creek. I'm not the kind of person who holds a grudge so I forgave him and forgot all about it. He's actually a really sweet boy if you get to know him. He's my age, fourteen. Ryan's thirteen. Eh, I guess Cole isn't that bad after all.

It was time for me to walk home, Ryan offered to take me home but I could use the exercise. I said goodbye to their parents. His dad even said I seemed like a sweet girl and invited me over for dinner tomorrow so I could get to know the boys better. I made arrangements with the two to meet up at the creek around five tomorrow. I said bye and thanks, Ryan even hugged me. Weird.
