How did I get here?

Over the course of the last year, Reed Johnson's life has made some interesting twists and turns, and sadly, very few of them were for the better. Now, to get her away from the scenes that provoked her post-traumatic stress, her father has chosen to move the family back home to Nazareth in Pennsylvania.
Both old and new friends quickly start to make an impact on her life, and pretty soon, Reed is caught up in a web of drama while dealing with a lot of stuff herself. With an already fragile mental health, who knows how she'll end up?

15. Found her

The phone was ringing. However it was an unfamiliar ringtone and all of a sudden I remembered where I was.  I opened my eyes to see Alex looking like an angel in his sleep. He looked so young and innocent. He didn't wake up from the ringing of the phone. He was still sound asleep prbably exhausted from all the strain of yesterday. I got up from the make shift bed I had been sleeping on and walked downstairs to answer the phone.

"The Wright residence this is Reed Johnson speaking" I croaked in a sleepy voice. I looked over at the wall clock. It was one thirty in the morning. "We found her. She is being taken to the station now." One of the police officers from earlier said in the phone. Suddenly I wasn't tired anymore. "She is being looked at by a doctor. She should be fine fine exept for a small cold." "Where was she?" I asked. "She was hiding between some trees at the reservoir." She said. "Alright thank you. Alex and I will be there shortly." I said and hung up. I walked in and sat on beside Alex on his bed. I shook him gently. No response. "Alex they found her" I whispered. At the sound of my voice his eyes fluttered open. He smiled and propped himself up on his elbows. His duvet slid down and I couldn't help notice that he was shirtless and his sixpack was... Wow. "What did you say?" He yawned. "They found her up at the reservoir." I told him and his eyes widened. "How the hell did she get all the way up there?" He said and got out of the bed. I stood too and collected all my clothes from yesterday. I walked into the bathroom to get dressed and left Alex in his room to do the same. When I was done I walked out at the same time as him. Now over the shock of knowing that she had been found  he ran to the door worry painted in his face. I ran after him and got my bag.

When we got to the station we ran inside and announced our arrival. We were put in some waiting chairs while the doctor finished checking Gina. Alex was twitching in his chair with impatience. I put my hand on his shoulder to calm him down. He instantly sat still. Just then an officer walked in and said that we could see her now. We shot up and hurried to the room that he pointed out. Gina was sitting in a huge chair looking so tiny and tired. Alex had already scooped her up and she was sitting on his forearm while he was hugging her tight. "Don't you ever do that to me again Gina!" He murmured into her shoulder and shook her gently, "Ever!" She nodded and he sat down in the chair with her on his lap.

I smiled at them and felt a stab in the stomach of missing past moments with David. A memory of the two of us in the living room flickered on my mind. Our father was out and I had fallen outside in the yard and gotten a big cut on my knee that was gushing out blood. He had run outside when he heard me screaming and crying. He carried me inside put me on the couch. Then he mummified it, overestimating the damage. He had been so scared. After that he sat with me ,just like Alex was now with Gina, and had murmured at me how much I had scared him.

I walked over and put my hand on Gina's back. "Hey sweetie. I missed you at dance class." She reached for my neck and I lifted her onto my hip. She started to cry all over again and I walked around the room bouncing her on my hip trying to calm her down. After a while I looked down to see if she had stopped crying and saw that she had fallen asleep. I mouthed "She's sleeping" to Alex and he came over and took her. He had to sign some papers and when he was done we walked out. I gave them a ride home and drove home myself. I was finally home. I tiptoed around so David and dad wouldn't wake up. I fell asleep shortly after lying down in my bed. But first I lay there just staring out my window. Finally I gave in to sleep and slept and slept and slept. It felt like I had only slept for two minutes when my dad came in and shook me awake. Apparently my alarm clock hadn't been enough...
