Dream Journal

I like to keep track of my dreams, so I will move them all here in case someone would like to read them :)

42. Nanowrimo and Mother Problems

Last night, I dreamed that I was going to an old friend's house with my parents and brother. It was snowing outside, and the friend had moved, so the first house we drove to was wrong. We continued down a narrow street with small cottages. We stopped at one because it was our friend's house.

Now a few things you should know - this friend passed away about two years ago, and had been married with a kid. In my dream, she was alive, not married, and had the same kid. While this is probably due to me not seeing her for quite a many years, but a dream is a dream.

Anyway, when we first arrived, the friend's daughter showed us a wide open room with a few chairs and explained she had kittens. I was excited because I loved kittens, so we played with them for a bit. They were both very young and grey-black striped. My brother picked one up and rocked it back and forth.

Then I was writing my Nanowrimo novel, which was actually a project I'm currently working on, and I submitted some of my work to the website. Instantly I got some messages that were really mean, saying that everything I was writing was wrong, and that I should be ashamed of myself because I had insulted someone somehow. I was so upset, I decided that I was going to give up Nano. I was crying in frustration because these messages were anonymous, and I didn't know who had written them, so I wrote to my local Nano group and said I was giving up.

Then, nine televisions were suddenly in the room. My brother ran through and turned them all on different channels, but turned the sound down. I found one station playing a show called Space Pad, which was about a young boy in outer space with a iPad going on adventures. I liked it, so I asked him to turn on the closed captions so I could understand what was going on, but he didn't hear me.

Then everyone was upstairs eating dinner and I was still downstairs. My mom got really mad because I wasn't upstairs with them eating. I said that I wasn't interested in the television, so she told me to shut them all off. So I did, and she went to shut off the basement light, which someone had accidentally left of. She said something like "You will just turn the show back off when I come into the room." I didn't want to watch the TV, but it came back on by itself, and she got mad because she had guessed right. I tried to explain that it had come on itself, but she didn't believe me. She turned off the TV and went to the bathroom, and when she came out, it had turned itself on again, so she sent me to my room as punishment.

Something happened to my pants, so I was talking around my room with just a t-shirt and underwear on. I was so upset because no one believed me, but then I decided that since I wasn't going to finish Nano this year, I would present my story to my family and our friend and her daughter. So I printed out the first 23 pages of the novel (I don't know why it's 23, but it was) and went downstairs to present it.

We had transported to my house, so the living room was my living room at home with our friend. My mom was drinking a cocktail, leaning back on the couch in an ornery mood. She said something about me winning, and I tried to say "This is a competition?" but instead it sounded like "This is a competition!" She explained that I had won because I was supposed to be being punished, but instead I was presenting a novel.

Then I was outside a cabin in the woods. I was standing in the garage, but there was no door, so it was more like a covered porch. I saw a creepy man, and I recognized him as a seriel killer. Then the man turned into a large woman and began to chase me around. I ran in the house shouting I was being chased, but my mom was annoyed I was making so much noise. I cried in fear and asked someone to call the police, but no one would do anything. Then, two kids, about 12-15 years old, saw the killer lady chasing me. The killer lady saw them and started to chase them, and I went to tell my mom, but she didn't care still.

Then I saw a covered wagon full of Indian corn and woke up.
