The Madman with a Box

Milly Hansles is mostly normal, mostly normal life, mostly normal boyfriend, mostly normal friends. But she will never be completely normal. As a child, she was saved by a magical man who called himself “The Doctor.” Milly was intrigued by this strange man-well, he was an alien actually, but he looks like a man-especially by his blue box. She was in it for a few minutes, although she barely realised. Now she’s “grown up”, apparently, she wants to find him. But how can you find a time-tavelling madman with a box?

3. Leaving

"Bye mum, bye dad!" I waved at my parents as Flynn drove away from my home for the last twenty years. I'd miss it, that house with it's creaky stairs and doors that never shut properly. Mum and dad waved until I couldn't see them any more.

"So Milly," said Flynn. "Where am I taking you?" I turned away from the back window and looked at him. Flynn McLaughlin was my boyfriend and I loved him to bits. I smiled. "To the flat, I need to decorate." He grins and turns a corner.

I loved Flynn. He reminded me of the Doctor. He had the same kind of hair and he loved bow ties. His car was deep blue, like the Doctor's TARDIS. He was the sweetest man on the planet, no the universe, no in existence and he's the only person I knew who believed in the Doctor. Flynn didn't think I'm mad.

Flynn stopped the car in front of a huge building. It's very modern and reminded me of a hospital for some strange reason. "Want some help?" he asked. I shook my head. "No, I want to do it myself, because it's my flat," I said, like a little kid. He laughed and nodded.

I opened the car door and got out, giggling excitedly. I'd be on my own for a while now...this would be interesting. Flynn got out to help me unload all my stuff. I have at least four boxes of stuff. Since I met the Doctor, I became madly interested with space and planets, that sort of stuff. I also had all my paintings, I painted the TARDIS and white flames in a forest. My art teacher used to ask me where I came up with these things, I'd always replied with movies and a shrug. I painted stars mostly, star constellations, galaxies, planets, all the things in space. I make up planets too. I once created a pure white planet with a yellow ring around it. I called it Kargonix, the aliens that lived there were called Kargonixians and they shouldn't be trusted with matches. My parents said I had a wild imagination. My teachers said I needed 'help'. But it was all true.

Flynn and I staggered up the stairs to my new home. I was pleased to see that it had a blue door. I managed to open it with my key, balancing two boxes precariously with one hand.

I sighed. This was my new home.
