33. Forever and Always

*Listen to "They Don't Know About Us" by One Direction while reading this chapter for guarenteed fan-girling :) *

“Harry,” Arian said, standing where Harry was pointing. “What’s going on? You’ve been acting strange tonight.”

Harry didn’t respond, watching as Niall placed Evelyn by edge of the balcony, close to Ariana. He then looked to Niall, who nodded in response. It was time.

“The contract says we can’t date,” Harry said as he reached into his jacket pocket. “So…” Niall and Harry, almost in sync, got down on one knee.

“Niall… What are you doing? Oh my gosh. What are you doing? Get up. Seriously.” The words tumbled out of Evelyn’s mouth as she rocked back and forth on her feet. “Niall…”

“Oh gosh, Harry,” Ariana silently squealed as Harry smiled up at her.

Suddenly, music came on over the speakers. It was “They Don’t Know About Us.” As the piano solo played, and Niall began to sing.

“People say, we shouldn’t be together,” he smiled, singing as lovely as he always had as he looking to Evelyn longingly. “Too young to know about forever…But, I say, they don’t know, what they’re tal-tal-talking about.”

“Cause this love is only getting stronger,” Harry sang, smiling cheekily up at Ariana. “So I don’t want to wait any longer.” Taking out of his jacket pocket he pulled out a small black box. “I just want to tell the world that you’re mine, girl. Oh!”

Suddenly, Liam, Louis, and Zayn stepped onto the balcony as well, dressed in sleek black suits and began to sing the chorus.

As the rest of the boys sang, Harry opened the black box, revealing a stunning ring. It was silver, the metal wrapping around itself like a vine, and in the center was a gem of a beautiful crystal blue color. Ariana looked at him with a glimmer in her eyes, excited, and in love.

“They don’t know about the up-all-nights,” the boys sang. Ariana caught Harry winking at her, and she just smiled back. “They don’t know I’ve waited all my life, just to find a love that feels this right. Baby, they don’t know about us.”

“One touch and I was a believer,” Niall began to sing, looking up at Evelyn who was covering her mouth in shock. “Every kiss gets a little sweeter.

“Its getting better,” Harry sang back, “Keeps getting better all the time girl.”

“They don’t know about the things we do,” all the boys chanted. “They don’t know about the ‘I Love You’s’ but I bet you if you only knew, they would just be jealous of us.”

As the song continued, Evelyn’s mind raced. He was proposing. Was she ready? This wasn’t something to be taken lightly; it was the rest of her life. And what about Niall’s career? His dream that he had worked so hard for. Marriages seemed to break bands up, not make them stronger.

“They don’t know how special you are,” Harry and Niall sang to them, harmonizing perfectly. “You don’t know what you’ve done to my heart. They can say anything they want, cause they don’t know us.”

“They don’t know what we do best,” Niall sang to Evelyn, taking her hand in his. “It’s between you and me, our little secret. But I want to tell them, I want to tell the world that you’re mine, girl.”

They stopped the song there, and Harry looked up to Ariana hopefully.

“Ariana Sterling Corum,” Harry said, holding the ring up to her. “Will you do me the greatest honor, and marry me?” Without hesitation, Ariana nodded, letting Harry take her hand, and slide the ring on it. Harry stood, embracing Ariana, and they kissed.

Niall looked to Evelyn, smiling as he kissed her hand.

“I know I have only known you for a year,” Niall said, “but I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I won’t let some contract get in the way of us… an-and if I have to quit singing then I will.” He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a ring. It was a thin, silver band, with a aquamarine stone in the middle, with three smaller gems surrounding it. “Will you marry me?”

Evelyn looked to Niall, tears welling in the corners of her eyes as she stood in shock. She removed her hand from her mouth and looked at Niall.

“Why me?” she whispered, “Of every girl in the world that wants you, why are you choosing me?”

“Harry showed me the letter,” Niall replied, searching for the right words. “You care about me. You were willing to risk your reputation to save what you thought matters most to me.” He paused, shaking his head as a smile crept onto his face. “But what really matters to me… Is you. I love you Evelyn. And even if you don’t want to marry me… I’ll wait. I will always wait for you because you matter most to me. You are my dream.”

He stopped talking, silently hoping that she would say yes. Niall wanted to be with her forever.

Evelyn didn’t say anything, but fell on her knees and embraced Niall in a hug. She pulled back and kissed his lips slowly. She wished she could wait in this moment forever, when everything seemed perfect- no, when it was perfect.

“You don’t have to wait,” Evelyn replied, sitting back on her feet. “I am here for you, because I now know how much you are here for me.” Niall raised his eyebrows. “That means, I will,” she laughed, kissing him again. “Forever and always.”
