15. Wise words

“Ms. Menthe, what a surprise to see you here at this hour! Alone!” exclaimed Phil.

“I just really need to speak to Fiona” I replied simply.

Phil gave me a curt nod before entering the house. “This way, please” as he stepped into the magnificent mansion and led the way to Fiona’s room. He gently knocked on her door.

“Come in” said Fiona cheerfully.

Phil opened the door and motioned me to stay away.

“Ms. Menthe is here, madam. She says she wants to speak to you” said Phil respectfully.

“Well, what are you waiting for? Let her in!” said Fiona.

“As you wish, madam” Phil held the door for me as I walked into the room.

“Hello” I said carefully.

Fiona put down her hairbrush on her wood desk and walked over to me; she reached out and hugged me, something I wasn’t expecting.

“What is the matter, child?” she asked as she looked into my eyes expectantly.

“I have been, um, thinking about what you said to me last time before I left” I said, as the words came rushing through my mind. Love can change a person completely, even if it seems impossible, never give up faith in what you really believe in. But Stephanie, do not let it change you for the bad.

“Oh?” said Fiona, and then whispered “You met him already”

“Who, Peter?” I asked.

Fiona looked at me and I could see the wheels spinning in her head, something was going on, and it included Peter and me.

“As you may know” started to say Fiona, I looked at her and nodded.

“Earth Devils and our kind, which we call egregious anima, have been fighting for centuries. There has never been a truce between the two because we never found a way. Many of us want a truce to happen, so that we can both live in peace, but an opportunity has never come to the surface. Until two centuries back, when Christopher and I travelled to Athens to talk to a magician who was near his death and his last wishes were to see the Elders. Humans thought he was talking gibberish when we arrived, but the man was speaking our native language, and quite fluently I must say. I remember his last moments as he took my hand and told what I have been waiting to hear for years. These were his last words:

The moment is coming, Fiona, when their kind and our kind will finally live in harmony. Two love birds will change fate, the pure heart with hidden talents, and the dark one who will surrender to their heart and finally learn how to love. They are the ying and the yang, as you would call it; they go perfectly together, because they were made out of the same soul. Their love will be the most powerful force once the time comes, and they will finally bring peace to this world. They will come when most needed, as neither of them walks on this Earth yet, you must be patient, and never lose hope.”

A tear fell down my cheek as I realised what influence I had in this world, of course Peter would never even get near Dianna, he couldn’t, like I could never find one single guy attractive. It all made sense now, the pull I felt towards him, the happiness I got when I saw him, we were soul mates, we shared a soul, and without the other we were incomplete.

“Thank you” I managed to say.

“Why are you thanking me, honey” asked Fiona.

“Everything makes sense now, everything I feel… it’s worth something”

“It always was, you just didn’t know it”

“How did you know it was me?” I asked curiously.

“I could feel your power wanting to come out, waiting, I could feel your soul incomplete, and it was then that I knew it was you. It is still incomplete by the way”       she said as a smile spread across her face.

“How will we become complete?”

“I cannot tell you that yet, it is too soon.”

“Oh?” I said, completely confused.

“Leave, child, there is nothing else I can tell you yet”

I headed outside of the room and found Phil waiting patiently at the door. He nodded to Fiona, who smiled at me and waved. I followed Phil around until we finally arrived at the front door, it was dark outside. I could see it through the magnificent windows.
