“You okay there?” he said, worry written all over his face, like I was something very important to him, I secretly prayed this was the case. It was then that I realised that his arms were still wrapped around me, heat radiating off them, a warm feeling that I felt wherever our skin was touching.

“Yes, yes I think I’m fine” I replied, still a little dizzy.

“That’s good, I have something I need to talk to you about, but not here” and his eyes wandered for a second to his right, which made my eyes look that way too. A few metres away, Dianna sat on a bench, eyebrows raised, looking, or more like staring, at us. Probably wondering how a good-looking guy was paying attention to me and not her, or probably wondering how to get him in her grasp, or how to ruin my life for getting his attention before she did. That girl was the closest thing this school had to a Devil; she came up with the most horrible plans all by herself. Luckily I have never been a victim of these tortures, until now.

And before I could think of it, the words slid from my mouth “Stay away from that Witch, Peter. Unless you want your heart broken and be in big the list of ex boyfriends” I said coldly.

But Peter just laughed “I don’t care about her, I have better things to do than walk straight into her witchy trap” he said, looking at me straight in the eye, but he was not finished. “There are girls in this school who are much more beautiful to me than boring, old, Dianna” he said softly.

“And who might those girls be?” I whispered. And it took me a minute to realise that I was not in the spot I was before, Peter’s arms still held me tight, and I was thankful for that, but we were now behind the building, completely out of view. I didn’t know how we got there neither did I care, as long as Peter was still near me I could be in the middle of Antarctica and still be happy.

Peter got closer to my face and then turned his head sideways, his soft lips landing on my ear.

“You” he whispered in my ear, and he playfully bit my earlobe, sending chills down my spine. I couldn’t breathe, couldn’t move, his arms were still around me and his face was still near my ear.

I somehow managed to move my lips and make words. “I have been thinking about you too, Peter” I said, so quietly I thought he didn’t hear me, but I thought wrong.

“Well, that’s good isn’t it? After all, you need two to tango, and the only partner I want to dance with me is you” he breathed in my ear.

“Cheesy” and I pulled away and looked at his eyes; they were so serious it was a bit scary.

“Stephanie, there is a reason why I am here, in a school” he said firmly, there was the slightest trace of fear in his eyes that told me I was in danger, he wasn’t the danger of course, but something else was.

“You came because of me?” I asked, wishing he just came here to be near me, That’s selfish I told myself, Snap out of it.

“That is partly the case, the interest that I have with you… Well, let’s just say not everyone agrees of me interacting with a human.” He said, scratching the back of his neck.

“Oh” I said, and more quietly “If only you knew I am NOT just a mere human” but again he heard it.

“What do you mean you are not normal?” he asked curiously.

“Don’t be scared of me” I said, blushing furiously.

But he just laughed really hard and looked at me with an amused expression.

“Be serious” I said, a bit more coldly than I was intending to.

“Steph, the one who should be scared here is you” he said, finally calmed down.

I got closer, so that our noses were nearly touching “Why? Because of what you um, eat? Because if that’s the case, I’m not scared anymore, you are different aren’t you? And I can sense you are not dangerous, but Tristan was”

He considered this for a second before speaking “What do you mean you can sense it? Can you sense danger?”

“Uh” oops, messed up big time, I just told Peter my powers, I am meant to keep quiet, but he just admitted what he was. A bit of sincerity won’t hurt right?

“My family” I started “We, um, have these powers I guess you could call it, not very big powers but they are helpful. I have like a sixth sense that tell me if different people, places or objects are dangerous, and right now I’m not receiving any signs of danger from you.”

“Huh, that’s cool” he said, and I was relieved he didn’t look scared or disgusted or anything bad at all.

“Is it just your family that is like this?” he asked carefully, as if it was a question he knew he shouldn’t ask.

I sighed “No, there are many families like this around the globe, and we all have the same job, to destroy the only race that threatens human kind, your kind.”

He let this sink in and then asked “Then why aren’t you trying to kill me? You had your chances.” He asked, flashing his weird smile that I was slowly getting used to.

“I guess I kinda like you” I said shyly, and I blushed.

“Naw, there’s more to that isn’t there?” I blushed even more and looked at the ground.

I felt one of his soft hands touch my chin carefully, as if it were asking if that was okay, then he lifted my chin up and made me look at him. And the other arm rested on my waist, but I wasn’t paying close attention, his eyes were much more fascinating. His warm eyes staring at mine like they were the only thing he could see, his smile was wide and he seemed to be enjoying the closeness of the moment. My heart was racing, too quickly for my liking, and I wondered if Peter could hear its crazed heartbeat like I could.

“Don’t worry” he said softly “I feel the same way” and he started getting closer and closer, his eyes never leaving mine, our noses were now slightly touching, I closed my eyes. Time seemed to stop and the seconds dragged by as I waited, with his hand still on my chin. My knees were starting to betray me, I felt them get weaker. As if sensing this, Peter’s grip tightened around my waist, as if making sure I didn’t fall to the ground. He got closer and closer…
