Subtle Signals

Jillian was once just a One Direction fan. Then she became a fangirl.
Jillian's family is not doing very well financially, but they somehow scraped the money together to get her the best birthday present ever, and it led to something that is simply irreplaceable.

6. Everything Happened So Fast... part I

I arrived at the venue with a goofy grin on my face.  I was in the same area and One Direction.  I was about to see them live.  I couldn't believe what was going on.

I walked into the mall where the Gibson Amphitheater was and took it all in.  There were hundreds of teenage girls dressed in concert shirts and 1D merch, as well as one in a carrot suit... I looked around for the fro yo place.  I finally found it and made my way over to it, finding Carly and her friends.  I ran up to Carly and couldn't stop hugging her and thanking her for this opportunity.

"Thank you so much for all of this, Carly.  I really can't believe this is happening.  I feel like in a few moments I'm going to wake up in my bed and everything was just a wild dream.  This is so surreal- I've dreamt about this for months.  I really can't thank you enough." I wanted to start crying on her shoulder in shock.

All of her friends went "AWWWE!" but Carly shot them a look.

"My pleasure.  Anything for my little cuzzie!"

"AWWWE!" from her friends again.

"Would you guys stop that? We're having a moment here..." Carly said to them.

One of them began singing moments.

We all said "SHHHH!" for fear of crying over it.

-30 min later-

We got into line with our fro yo and waited to be ushered into the venue.  It was a tiny amphitheater, and we had back balcony seats.  But I didn't care.  We could see over everyone else- we had the perfect view.

Carly handed me my ticket and we walked up to the merchandise table.  I got some bracelets and put them on, while Carly and her friends got some posters and pics.

We walked into the amphitheater and it was PACKED.  Everyone was rushing to their seats.  Carly and her friends went to the bathroom and I went to find our seats.  I found them and took a mental note of there they were, and then walked over to the railing next to the side stage door to wait for them to come back out.

Suddenly, it was as if a portal to hell had been opened.  Hundreds of high-pitched screeches filled the venue, and I felt someone bump into my shoulder, rather forcefully.  It almost knocked me over.

"I am so sorry miss, are you okay?" said a sweet British accent.

I raised my eyes from my shoulder and I saw him.  I had been bumped by Liam Payne.

"I- I'm fine.  Sorry I was in the wa-"

He cut me off. "No, no.  I'm sorry I ran into you.  What's your name?"

"J- Jillian" I choked out, still in utter shock.

"What a beautiful name.  Fitting."

I giggled.  "Thank you!" I said, finally seeming to collect myself.

"Where are your seats?"

"In the very back row of balcony section 25" I told him.

"Oh, that's a bummer."

"Why? I've been dreaming about going to one of your concerts and it finally came true!"

"I wish you were in the front row."

"Well, that would've been hard to get... I'm just glad I have tickets."

"Me too!"

Just then, Niall came bursting through the door as we were talking.

"Liam, who's this?" He said in his adorable accent.

"This is Jillian.  She's in the back of the balcony."

"I should probably let you get back to what you were doing... it was very nice to meet you Liam!"

Niall was whispering something in Liam's ear as I walked away.

"Jillian, wait!" Liam said, and I turned around.  Niall was frantically running backstage.

Liam mouthed, "Niall" he said, pointing behing him, "thinks you're" he said, pointing at me, "pretty." he finished, and I blushed like crazy.

up to this point, everything that happened in the story has been completely true.  The fiction is about to start.  From here on out, everything in bold actually happened.  Happy reading!

"Meet me back here twenty minutes after the concert"he mouthed to me, and I mouthed "You got it" in reply and winked.

This was only the beginning of the best night ever.
