50. Nothing's Perfect

I was walking down a long hallway. It was made of glass. All glass. The sides, floor, and ceiling were all made of glass. To my right, I was red. Everything was red or black. It looked like fire coming up and burning the world to ashes. The trees and buildings were just charred carcasses now. The sky was raining ash and debris. I shuddered and looked away. On my right was a beautiful world. The lush green fields, the soft rows of flowers, the thick trees creating a canopy where warm sunlight streamed down. This world made me smile. I reached the end of the hallway and there were seven doors. They were all white with a name printed on each. Liam, Louis, Niall, Harry, Zayn, Hailey, and Charlotte. Did I have to choose? I didn't want to choose. Now I was upset. I turned to go back but there were seven doors there too, each with a name on it. Anywhere I turned, there were doors. I had to choose. I chose Liam, my love. I clasped the cold metal handle and yanked on it. It slid open easily. The interior was pitch black. I didn't want to step in. All of a sudden, snakes poured out of the room. Slithering over the floor and my feet. I screamed as hundreds of them came out. I slammed the door and they all faded away. How odd. I went to Hailey's door next. She was my cousin, after all. I hesitated before opening the door. I finally pulled it open. No snakes came out, but it was worse. Spiders. Thousands of them. Big, hairy, spiders bigger than my foot. I slammed the door and moved to Char's. I subcontiously opened it as wasps swarmed out. Their hisses echoing in my ears. I slammed the door and moved on. I opened Niall's door to be greeted by a ferocious lion. At Harry's door, a large alligator started to crawl out. At Zayn's door a shark flopped out, gnashing it's teeth. One door left. Only one, I told myself. I cringed as I opened Louis' door, but nothing happened. I watched in curiosity as one stary butterfly flitted out of the door. I stretche out my hand as it land delicately on my finger. It crawled up my hand to my arm, then up until it was resting on my shoulder. Then, it talked to me. It's voice was soft and sweet, like a whisper on the wind. It floated into my ear.

    "Nothing's perfect,

Something's wrong

When you discover it,

it'll be in song.

Solve this riddle,

you may suceed,

fail while trying,

then there's no need."

The butterfly floated away. The world started spinning. I felt dizzy. Then I felt sleepy. I couldn't keep my eyes open. I slowly let them closemas I blacked out.
