Abby's Secret

Abby is your average fourteen year old who has just moved from California to New Jersey. She tries to find ways to fit in and act normal but she's crumbling on the inside. All she wants is to go back to California and be with her three best friends who mean the world to her. Her little brother, Todd, gets to her phone and pretends to be Abby and texts a boy from her new school and says she loves him. He has a crush on her and she knows it. Is Abby going to tell this boy the truth that it was actually Todd who texted him, or is she going to lead him on and crush his heart in the end?

2. What Did You Drug That Boy With?

"Well, well, well, if it isn't Abby and Josh" Mr. Hughes, my science teacher, said as I trudged into class with him. I had just found out now his name was Josh. Josh and I both stood at the front of the classroom and explained why we were late. My excuse was because I was a new student and got lost, while Josh's was because he was in the bathroom. What a stupid excuse, and a little embarrassing too. We both headed towards our assigned seats we had just been given, the whole class stared both of us down like we were two circus clowns in a zoo. I've never liked having a lot of attention and my first day of eighth grade was starting out with just a little too much of it. I sat next to a girl named Claire, she was real nice and laid back. I didn't mind her at all. She treated me pretty well for being a newbie. Throughout the whole period I could feel Josh staring at me from across the class. I never looked cause if he wasn't actually looking at me it would just look like I had a crush on him, which I didn't.

"What did you drug that boy with?" Claire whispered to me in the midst of Mr. Hughes talking.

  "Who? What?" I answered, confused.

"Josh, he can't take his eyes off of you. I think you've got yourself a little boyfriend Abby" Claire replied.

I laughed a bit. I liked her personality, she had a good sense of humor and wasn't a 'lets get to work' kind of lab partner. I was thinking about what she said and looked at Josh to see if he was looking back at me. He was. He smiled and went back to finishing his worksheet. I was puzzled, I barely knew anything about this boy and I still wouldn't give him a chance to even have a conversation with me. Maybe I should stop holding back.

Claire and I were in the middle of talking about our schedules and what classes we had together when the bell rang and Mr. Hughes dismissed us.

"Sit with me at lunch?" Claire asked me as we walked out the door.

"Yeah, sure" I replied.

I was the new student and I already had someone ask me to sit with them at lunch, I never make friends that easily.

I was on my way to social studies when I heard a voice say "Will you sit with me at lunch!" The voice sounded familiar, I turned around. It was Josh. I just couldn't shake this boy off. I thought about earlier and how rude I was being by running away from him. I got to thinking and thought he's been chasing after me most the day so far, the least I can do is sit with him at lunch. I stopped in the middle of the hall when I heard him. I stayed there waiting for him to reach me and said "sure."

"Okay, cool" he had a smile on his face that didn't seem to go away.

His next class was math while mine was social studies, our classes were right across from each other. He could even see me during class, thanks to Mrs. Reese, my social studies teacher, who liked to keep the door wide open. Class was pretty awkward for me knowing there was someone staring at me the whole time. The more I think about it, I think Claire was right. I don't mean to sound self centered, but I think Josh likes me. But do I like him back? I really don't know the answer to that question.
