Abby's Secret

Abby is your average fourteen year old who has just moved from California to New Jersey. She tries to find ways to fit in and act normal but she's crumbling on the inside. All she wants is to go back to California and be with her three best friends who mean the world to her. Her little brother, Todd, gets to her phone and pretends to be Abby and texts a boy from her new school and says she loves him. He has a crush on her and she knows it. Is Abby going to tell this boy the truth that it was actually Todd who texted him, or is she going to lead him on and crush his heart in the end?

16. Friday

I woke up to Todd shaking me like a rag doll. I jumped, opening one eye to find Todd with a pickle jar in his hands.

I closed both my eyes and threw the sheets back over my head “Is someone dead or hurt? If not, leave me alone!” I groaned from under the sheets.

“No, but I can’t get this jar open and I really want pickles for breakfast” Todd complained.

My eyes fluttered open, the light blinded me.

I snatched the jar out of his hands. He looked desperate. The jar popped open easily, Todd was a weak child. I gave him back his jar and perched myself on my elbows as I stared at him while he dipped his fingers on the pickle jar and got a pickle, then shoved it in his mouth. He was dripping pickle juice all over my carpet,  I hated the smell of pickle juice.

“You should really start eating actual meals” I told Todd.

“And you should really start being pretty” He sneered as he dangled a pickle above his mouth waiting for the juice to stop dripping.

“You are such a nerd” I mumbled as Todd walked away carefully holding the jar of pickles.

He left my door open and I saw him walk down the stairs. “You’re welcome by the way!” I yelled at him as he stuck his tongue out at me. I didn’t bother going back to bed. I was already awake. I ran down the steps and met Todd at the kitchen table took a pickle out of his jar. My mom was still asleep, she gets up right before she takes Todd to school.

“No!” Todd shrieked as his pickle plummeted to the ground. I laughed at him a bit, then put a serious face on. I was still upset with him, I didn’t want him thinking everything was fine now. If anything, the situation got worse.

I had about an hour until I had to leave for school. My mom came down the steps and took Todd to school while I finished getting ready. I scrunched my hair and put it in a messy bun, then put on some skinny jeans and a white t shirt that said ‘I love Harry Styles’ in black lettering. He’s such a cutie. I struggled to put my converse high tops on. They were new and haven’t been broken in yet. I wasn’t too hungry so I skipped breakfast. I was dreading to go to school and see Josh, thank god it was Friday.
