I smile to myself and slowly walk into my room. It’s a medium size room, with lime green walls and a queen size bed with billions of pillows on it. I sit on top of it to think.
I jump up to see that the bed is moving. It’s a water bed! I do a belly flop onto it and it moves again. I burry my face in the soft pillows and think back to Niall and Liam’s conversation. I felt warm inside knowing that Niall was worried about me. That he was worried Liam might try to do something, which was ridiculous because it was Liam who wouldn’t even think of cheating on Tiffany. But knowing Niall worried made me feel better and it almost made up for the fact that he wouldn’t let me stay with him.
Wait. What is wrong with me? I was just thinking about breaking up with him! And now I’m all happy because he’s worried about me? God, I’m crazy. What’s come over me?
I hear a knock on the door and lift my face up. Liam walks in.
“Hey. Sorry to disturb you but I just thought you might need some clothes.” He says, tossing me a pair of sweats and a big t-shirt.
“You weren’t disturbing me, and thanks, I needed these.”
“I’m sorry about your apartment. I know how much you liked having your own.” He sits at the edge of the bed.
I sigh. “Well, it was my own stupidity. I’m just glad no one got hurt.”
“It could have happened to anyone. You were probably in a rush and forgot, it was a mistake.” He reassures me.
I nod. “I don’t know how I’m going to tell my parents. They paid for all the furniture and now it’s all gone. I don’t know where I’m going to stay.”
“Well, I’m sure Niall’s family won’t stay too long, so you can stay with him for awhile. And you can stay here as long as you want.” He smiles.
“Thank you Liam. You’re so sweet.”
“Anything for you.” He stands up and walks to the door.
“Thank you Liam, for everything.” I say before he leaves.
He turns around and smiles his perfect smile. “Goodnight, Emma.”
And he closes the door.
I wake up the next morning and walk downstairs to see Liam sitting at the kitchen table. I smell pancakes.
“You made pancakes?” I say, squinting as my eyes adjust to the sun light.
“Don’t make me laugh. I just got some at McDonald’s for us.”
“Oh, of course.” I laugh and sit across from him.
“How did you sleep?”
“Really well, thanks. I’ve never slept in a water bed before.” I reply.
“Really? I love them.”
“I can see why. It’s really comfy.” I say, stuffing food in my mouth.
“So what do you want to do today?” Liam asks me.
“I don’t know. I guess I have to go tell my parents what happened. And then go shopping for some new things.”
“Can I come? I have nothing to do today.”
“Of course. You think Niall will want to leave his family for a few hours and join us?” I ask, sarcastically.
“It’s not his fault, he hasn’t seen them in a while.”
“I know, I know. I just wish I could see him more, you know? You and Tiffany actually see each other more than once a week. Do you want to invite her?”
He pauses, thinking. “Only if you do.”
“Is that a no?” I ask, raising my eyebrows.
“It’s a ‘whatever you want’.” He says using air quotes.
“Are you and Tiffany having problems?” I ask.
“That’s the problem. I don’t know.”
“What does that mean?” I ask.
“It means that we never talk anymore. She always just wants to watch a movie or hang with you guys, but we never have a real conversation. And she’s acting different. Have you noticed?”
“No, she acts the same around me.” I answer.
“Oh, well, to me she seems different. I don’t know how to explain it, really. Maybe more distant I guess, but there’s something else. I just can’t put my finger on it.”
Liam looks down at his food and I see the sadness in his face. “We don’t have to invite her. It can be just us two. Have a little bonding time.” I say.
He smiles. “Yay! I’ll go get ready.” He says getting up and throwing his food away. “By the way, my clothes look good on you.” He says, walking out the door.
I giggle and blush. Then I realize what I’m doing.
