"Alright, it's the biggest New Year's Eve party of the year, and now, we're here. Let's do it!" Harry clasped my hands together, and Louis just frowned once more. "Hazz, why'd you need to drag me along" He groaned. "Lou! Snap out of it, ever since Eleanor broke up with you, you've been in a rut, and you're not fun loving at all. Same with you Liam! This is the party to get you feeling better" Harry said, trying his best to give what I guessed he though was a pep talk.
"I mean look at Zayn, he and Perrie broke up, and he's fine" He added, putting a hand on my shoulder. "That's because what happened between Perrie and I was mutual, with Liam and Louis it was just... Messy" I muttered and he frowned. "Thanks for your help mate, I really appreciate it" He frowned. I threw his hands up in defence and walked away, chuckling to myself slightly.
I didn't really want to talk to anyone, so I went out onto the balcony out back, and lit a cigaret. I stood leaning against the railing, looking out at the city of New York bellow me. Everyone was partying, even on the streets, and it was actually really neat to watch. I smiled to my self slightly, before I heard a voice come from behind me.
"You know, smoking can kill you" I turned and saw a girl with long blonde hair, wearing a red and black dress, and I raised my eyebrow. "I've been told" I nodded simply, and she came up beside me. "Although, I suppose I can't talk" She shrugged, and smiled at me, "It's my New Years resolution. Quitting" I nodded at her. "It's mine too," I started, "Since last year actually" I grinned, and she laughed, and nodded. "Yeah well, it's not exactly easy" She said quietly, looking forward, at the street.
"You're telling me" I mumbled, putting mine out. "Maybe we can distract each other" She smiled, and I nodded. "Alright" I replied. "What's your name?" She asked, moving a stray hair from her face. "Zayn Malik, and yours?" I asked. "Evangeline Newman. But most of my friend call me Angie, or Angeline" She shrugged, turning her back to the view, and leaning against the railing.
"You sound awfully British" She said, looking at me. "Really? Weird" I joked, and she rolled her eyes. "I mean, what are you doing in New York?" She asked, and I shrugged. "I'm here for the party, my friend dragged me along, and I said why not" I grinned, and she returned it. "So, what. You just hoped on a plane and came over here, no problem?" She asked, raising her eyebrow, and I chuckled.
"That's pretty much how it went, yeah" I winked, and she rolled her eyes, but smiled still. "Must be nice" She muttered, and I was confused. "Must be nice, what?" I asked, and she looked at the ground, smiling slightly. "To get to just get on a plane, and go where ever you'd like" She looked up at the sky. "Well what about you? You have a texas accent, how did you get here?" I asked, and she looked at me.
"My aunt lives here. She's sick, and dying, and we're close, so..." She trailed off, and shrugged. "Oh, I'm s-" She cut me off. "I hate it when people say that, so save yourself the trouble" She smiled, and I returned it. "How old are you?" I asked. "Nineteen" She replied, "How old are you?". I smirked slightly, before responding. "Nineteen" I shrugged.
"You know, you seem awfully familiar" She crinkled her eyebrows. "You know, you don't" I grinned, and she rolled her eyes at me. "Oh shut it. I just feel like I've seen you before" She shrugged, and I nodded. "Do you know the band One Direction?" I asked, and her eyes widened. "That's were I've seen you! My cousin adores your music, personally i'm more of a Marianas Trench kinda girl, but whatever floats a thirteen year old's boat, I guess" She shrugged, and I chuckled.
"So you don't like our music?" I asked, and she shrugged. "It's not that I don't like it, I just don't listen to it" Her head snapped up, and she looked at me, "Sorry". I looked at her, crinkling my eyebrows. "Why are you sorry?" I asked, and she frowned. "Well, I just figured you'd be offended" She shrugged, and I shook my head. "No, I've encountered people who don't particularly like our music before. And besides, you'll learn to love" I grinned.
"And what makes you think I'll stick around to get to know you?" She asked, smirking at me slightly. "I just have that feeling" I shrugged, grinning. She quickly checked her watch, and smiled. "One minute until midnight" She said simply, and I smiled, taking a step closer to her.
"Oh, really?" I asked, and she nodded. I looked at my own watch. "I guess so" I grinned, and she looked away from me.
Soon you could hear people shouting from inside, counting down from ten. When they got to two, I brought Evangeline close, and lifted her chin slightly, so she was looking at me.
"Happy New Year!" Could be heard all across New York, as I pressed my lips to hers gently.
We both pulled away, and she laid her head in my chest. "I have a new resolution" She said quietly. "And what's that?" I asked, and she looked up at me. "Learn to love Zayn Malik" She grinned, and I laughed, rolling my eyes before kissing her again.
