"Alright, it's the biggest New Year's Eve party of the year, and now, we're here. Let's do it!" I clasped my hands together, and Louis just frowned once more. "Hazz, why'd you need to drag me along" He groaned. "Lou! Snap out of it, ever since Eleanor broke up with you, you've been in a rut, and you're not fun loving at all. Same with you Liam! This is the party to get you feeling better" I said, looking at my best friend, he just shook me off.
"I mean look at Zayn, he and Perrie broke up, and he's fine" I added, putting a hand on Zayn's shoulder. "That's because what happened between Perrie and I was mutual, with Liam and Louis it was just... Messy" Zayn muttered and I frowned. "Thanks for your help mate, I really appreciate it" I frowned. He threw his hands up in defence and walked away. I looked at my dispersing group.
We had lost Niall at the door, and now Zayn was gone, but I didn't mind, we didn't normally do this in a group anyway. "Right, well. Go have fun" I waved the two of them off. They rolled there eyes, but left anyway, leaving me happy. I shove my hands into my pockets, and scoped the place out, looking for the perfect girl for my New Years Eve kiss. I frowned softly, after walking around the entire place, and not seeing anyone who really sparked my interest.
It was strange, me actually looking for the perfect girl, given my reputation, but it was a New year, a way for me to start fresh, and maybe the time for me to get a little more serious about my relationships.
Look at me, a little less then an hour left until 2013, and I'm already changing. This was weird. I shook it off slightly, and continued to search.
Sure, there were pretty girls, but for New Years, I wanted it to be someone special. And then, I saw her.
She had long dirty blonde hair, and she was wearing a black dress that was cut just a little above her knees, the top half coated in sequins. She didn't look like anything special, or like she wanted to stand out, but she stood out to me. She didn't look to happy to be here, and I walked over, hoping to change her mindset.
"Hi there" I grinned cheekily. She looked me up and down, and shrugged as if to say 'Alright, I'll take what I can get' which normally would have offended me, but coming from her, I didn't mind. "Hi" She replied, quietly, but loud enough that I could hear her over the music. "Want to dance?" I asked, and she frowned. "Not particularly" She replied, and I frowned slightly.
My grin returned to my face once more, and I shrugged. "Alright," I said simply, "Then do you want to sit down?" I asked, and she gave me a half smile. "Sure" She responded, and I led her to a table I had seen earlier. "What's your name?" I asked, sitting down. "Kaylin, you?" She asked, and I was shocked for a moment. She didn't know who I was, that was kind of strange, but it made me like her more.
"Harry" I responded simply, "Did you come here with someone? A date?" I asked, and she shook her head. "I kind of swore off guys, you know, an old New Years resolution. I wanted to see if I could make it a year. And so far, I'm doing pretty good" She smirked, and I raised my eyebrow. "Would you make an exception?" I asked smiling cockily. "Perhaps" She shrugged, leaning back on her seat.
"What about the kiss at midnight?" I asked, raising my eyebrow. "Well, if it's the kiss at midnight then no exceptions will have to be made" She shrugged, before continuing, "It'll be the New Year, and I'll be off Scott Free". I chuckled, and nodded. "You have a British accent, what on earth are you doing here in New York?" She asked, raising her eyebrow. "I came for the party" I shrugged, and she laughed. "Oh? So you just hopped on a plane, to spend one night here?" She asked, and I nodded.
"What about you?" I asked, and she grinned, almost wickedly. "How do you know I don't live here?" She asked, and I shrugged. "I don't" I said casually, and she grinned. "I'm here because of my father. Lucky guess kid" She said, taking a sip of the champagne the waiter had set in front of her. Kid? Who was she calling kid? She had to be nineteen, at the oldest.
"Right. And how old are you?" I asked, my eyebrows raised. "Nineteen as of four months ago" She put down her glass, "You?" she asked. "Eighteen" I licked my lips, and she nodded. "I guessed that" She said, and I chuckled, nodding slightly. "Sure you did" I said sarcastically, still smiling. "I did, I swear" She hit my shoulder.
"How about now?" I asked, and she looked at me confused, as she finished her drink. "How about now what?" She asked, pushing her glass to the side. "How about we dance now" I suggested, and she shrugged. "Well, alright" She half-smiled, and we both stood up. I wrapped my arm around her as we walked over to the dance floor.
The song slowed down, and I wrapped my other arm around her too, pulling her close. "Boy, you sure are fast, aren't you?" She joked, wrapping her arms around my neck. "It's something people seem to learn to live with" I shrug, and she rolls her eyes. "I'm sure they do" She replied, playfully.
"One minute to midnight" I said, resting my forehead on hers. She took in a breath. "Thirty seconds" She replied, and I smirked. Soon everyone was chanting. "Ten" She started, and we counted down.
"Two, on-" I cut her off by pressing my lips to hers, and she was quick to kiss back.
We both pulled away, smiling at each other. "Happy New Year Kaylin" I said, still holding her close.
"Happy New Year Harry" She breathed, and with that, I kissed her again.
