What Humans Do

The world of gymnastics is a cruel one and when you get injured on the job you will be seen as easy prey. That's exactly what happened to me. I'm on the UK's Olympic Gymnast team and one day it's all taken from me when I left the gym on a stretcher. Now, I'm fighting my way back to the top of my team. That's the whole point of this whole stunt. Everything with him was perfect, but I couldn't allow that. I could only be with him for a year and a half. That's it. That's the whole point of this publicity stunt, to get back to the top, not to fall for each other. I would NOT, under any circumstnaces, let myself fall in love with Harry Styles.

25. Night Full Of Awkwards

I have never been to the Trafford Centre and I knew, the moment I walked int the place, that I'd be coming there more often. It was HUGE and absoluetly beautiful!

We were still at the mall, just leaving the food court when Harry announced that he and I were going to go into the store across from where the rest of the family went. Which they agreed too, of course.

Harry had a hold of my hand and I knew that he was still a bit sour from this morning when he tugged me into the Armani Express to get new colgne or something. He hadn't really been very talkative since this morning. I had surprised even myself, I was being sociable without coming off as rude or awkward! Anne, Gemma, and I had even planned a day when Harry's off on tour for me to come up here for the day and we all have a girls day! I was so happy! First impressions are important to me and I, myself, am never good at them.

"Harry... Are you okay? You've been quiet all day and it's not like you." I asked him, tugging on his hand to get him to look at me. I need face to face 'interrogation' so I can tell if someone's lying to me or not.

He knows how I am so he turned to face me. "I'm fine. I just don't want anything to do with Ellie and now she's coming over and you will be there so that'll make it worse and me be really protective over you and I don't want you to get mad and we fight cause that's what she'd want. I just never wanted you to be around her. And my mum knows I want nothing to do with her."

"Who even is she? No one's told me."

"She's my old girlfriend. We broke up on really bad terms, she cheated on me. We dated for two years and she had been dating this other guy from a different town for one of those years. I think she's over me now, but she kept trying to get me back, which I didn't want. I have you, why would I want her? I just want you to know that no matter what happens tonight, I don't want her to ruin what we've just made. Promise me that? That we'll be together no matter what?"

I didn't know where Harry was going with this because he was making her seem like she'd rip my head off the moment she laid eyes on me. I just held my mouth open a little with my eyebrows furrowed a bit and nodded. He just pulled me in and hugged me. We just stood there with his head on top of mine and my face in his chest, sharing another moment that I didn't want to end.

I didn't know what would happen tonight, but I knew we'd be fine. We were Rue and Harry, together.

**Later that night**

Harry and I were sitting on the couch, him wearing sweat pants and a tee-shirt, and I was wearing jeans and one of his hoodies. Not because I felt the need to 'intoxicate myself with his smell' but simply because I was cold and I didn't bring a hoodie. I never got what the big deal is with girls and thinking they had to wear their boyfriend's hoodies to make it all official. It's a hoodie. A piece of clothing. Big deal?

Any way, away from rant, we were all snuggled up on the couch watching Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix when the door bell ring. I knew Harry had tensed up because his arm around my waist grew stronger than it had been before. I looked up at him and he looked down at me and smiled, looseing his arm around me a bit. My legs were tucked under me so I pulled them out from under me and snuggled up a little closer to Harry and pulled my legs back under me.

I heard Anne talking from the entry area and she soon closed the door and walked in with a girl behind her. She looked to be nice enough. Shoulder length brown hair and medium sized brown eyes with freckles all over her nose area and pale skin. She was tall, 5'7 maybe? Certainly a lot taller than I ever hoped to be. She smiled at Harry and then looked at me and offered a nice smile but that was all.

I smiled back at her and went to get up to properly greet her but Harry pulled me back down. He leaned his head down and whispered "not until they call us."

He pulled his head back and I turned to give him the 'Rue Look' as he called it, which is where I just give a serious look. "Harry, don't be rude. I will be fine, I promise. She seems nice. Let's go. Everyone's in there, we seem like loners!"

Harry sighed and stood up, pulling me up with him. He snaked his arm my waist and we walked into the kitchen area.

Everyone was laughing and having a good time, until Harry and I came in. All the laughter evaporated from the room and everyone avoided Harry's eyes, instead they just looked at his arm around my waist. I tried to get him to let go of me, but he wouldn't budge. I just looked around, trying to figure out what was even going on.

After standing there awkwardly with silence, Harry walked out of the door. I wasn't sure whether I should have gone after him or not and I was about to until I heard Anne clear her throat. "Rue, this is Ellie. Ellie, this is Rue. I'm sure you two will become great friends. If you'll all excuse me, I'm going to go see what's gotten into Harry," she said with a hint of bitterness. Did she not know what happened?

"Hi, Rue. I see you and Harry are dating, yeah?" Ellie had a high pitched voice that would become annoying after a little while.

I smilied at her, though. "Yeah, we are."

She gave another forced smile. "Come and sit. I think dinner's almost done."

I know I had just met her, but that statement made me kind of mad. Sure, she had known the Styles' long before I, but she didn't own the home. Maybe I was just bitter because she made Harry leave.

"Okay, I'm just going to go and check on Harry, make sure he's okay..." I started to walk away but she cut me off.

"Rue, he'll be fine! He's just acting childish! Sit! Tell me about yourself!"

I started to walk away again, faster than before so she couldn't cut me off again, and said "I will in a few minutes. I just have to go and check on him."

I started walking upstairs when I heard that chatter resume in the kitchen. I saw that Harry's door was crack and he was sitting on his bed with Anne on the edge of his bed trying to talk to him but he wasn't saying anything.

I had never been one for snooping or eaves dropping so I just slid in the door and said "mind if I come him?"

Anne gave me a small smile and Harry turned and looked at me. He got off of his bed and walked towards me and pulled my small body into a tight hug. I adjusted my head to wear I could look at Anne and I sent her a questioning look, asking with my eyes why he was acting like this. She just shrugged her shoulders.

"I'm sorry I invited her, Harry. If you just deal with it tonight I won't do it again. I thought you would be over it by now."

Harry turned to look at his mum and pulled her into a hug while he still hugged me. It was a bit awkward for me, but he seemed content so who was I to argue?

"If Gemma was up here then I'd have my three favorite women in my arms!" Harry said in a cheesy manner. He gave us one last tight squeeze and finally releashed us.

"Can we go downstairs now?" Anne asked.

"Go on down, mum. Rue and I'll be down in just a minute." She nodded her head and left the room.

"Why didn't we just go down there with-" Harry had cut me off when he grabbed me and gave me a kiss. It was like the first time we kissed. Kind and full of love but still passionate. It always felt new when he kissed me. And I never got tired of that feeling.

When he finally pulled away from me, I started laughing. I don't even know why! I couldn't help it! "What's so funny, Rue-Rue?" He asked and began to laugh himself.

"Why did you just do that? It was so random!" I asked in bewteen my fits of laughter.

"It was because I'm sorry that I acted so protective. I knew she wouldn't try anything. I'm just still bitter towards her. I love you, Rue."

I smilied at him and said "I love you, too, Harry."

We walked back downstairs and enjoyed the rest of our night with everyone. Yes, that included Ellie, too.

Hey everyone! I've noticed that my movella is starting to get kind of... Long. Like, longer than many other movella's on here with chapters my length. So, I need advice, should I start planning for a sequel and continue with Rue/Harry's relationship and such or should I just finish their story on this one and start my sequel when their year and a half is up?
