1. Poem: Without A Kiss

Without A Kiss

Your lips touch,

Like lips to kiss,

Are mine that bad,

Have I kissed, but missed?

I want a kiss

Please give it to me

Please, please, I beg you

Give me a kiss.

We’ve been together,

We both know,

You even left your book

On my pedestal.

Just today I’m afraid,

You couldn’t have stayed,

Like a woman across the way

She turned asunder.

I have one wish

If the rain subsided

I would have…I would like a kiss

Love could have supplied it.

I want a kiss

Please give it to me

Please, please, I beg you

Give me a kiss.

I love you very much,

The church bells rung a tune,

I would like to see you,

Another afternoon.

But no,

Your heart has many doors,

But one was different, I thought

One with floors.

Does not the rain feel heavier now?

The night darker,

The wind gustily,

And the heart heavier?

Through my blood and sweat

It must have been you, my dream

I should not have been awake

I could not see what was at stake.

So I guess

I am just a miss…

Could I have been

Like a mustard seed?

I doubt my own distress

Is this just me?

A sobbing mess?

I want a kiss

Please give it to me

Please, please, I beg you

Give me a kiss.

What,

No kiss?

Surely,

I am a miss

To think of such,

A thought as this,

Could have gone,

Without a kiss.
