55. chapter 54

When the song was over we walked back out to the others.

Allie: what do you think?

Barry: It’s different.

Allie: I know but do you like it?

Barry: to be honest I don’t know Allie. It’s not like you to sing something like this.

Allie: technically it isn’t my song.

Jake: who wrote the text?

Allie: I wrote most of it.

Everyone went silent for a while but then I looked at my mom.

Allie’s mom: I like it Allie. Not because it’s your song but because it’s really catchy.

Allie: thanks.

Austin: look it’s going to be on my album so no matter if you like it or not, it’s going to get out in public as long as she allows it. She hasn’t signed anything yet but if she signs this…

Austin took a paper from the table we stood right new to, it was about the single and that they had my permission and how many credits I would get and so on.

Austin:… I can put the song on my album. It’s your choice Allie.

Austin’s managers looked at me, they had been thinking about this for a long time.

Jake: Allie? Can I talk to you outside for a moment?

Allie: sure.

Jake and I walked out, he looked really serious and I got kinda scared of him.

Allie: what is it?

Jake: If you sign that paper Barry can cancel the contract since it’s only your mother who’s signed it. We need your signature before we can’t break it.

Allie: But I didn’t make up the melody only the text. What would you have done Jake? It was supposed to be different. It’s to show another side of both me and him. We can’t just go in there and change everything both the melody and the text. There’s not enough time for it.

Jake: I know. I’ll speak with Barry about it. He likes the song but if we put out that song we’re going to ruin what we’re working on.

Allie: and what is it that you want me to be? Something that I’m not, because then the management ends here!

Jake: Allie, now calm down. I’ll go get Barry and then we’re going into another room to talk about it.

I stood alone in the hall and looked at my phone. Peyton had texted me.

Peyton: Rumors says that you’re signed. What’s that all about?

I didn’t really want to reply him yet but I didn’t have anything better to do. I decided to call him. I missed his voice.

Allie: Hey beautiful.

Peyton: hey what’s up?

Allie: about that text…

Peyton: yeah what about it?

Allie: I don’t know if you know yet but I’m back in the states, because I was on Ellen last night.

Peyton: I know.

Allie: Good… but after the show I was at a meeting with Barry Weiss and Jake Williams. They want to sign me both as management and sign me as in sign me, sign me.

Peyton: OMG that’s amazing.

Allie: yeah so I’ll be moving to Atlanta soon.

I felt butterflies inside of my body as soon as I told him. I wanted him to be happy about that I moved to the same town as he lived in.

Peyton: you’re joking right?

Allie: Nope. My mom flew over here, and she arrived like 2 hours ago and she wanna sign it. But I have a small problem.

Peyton: which is?

Allie: Barry might cancel the contract if Austin and I are going to release a new single we just finished. It’s so pathetic. It’s because it’s different from my acoustic music and I’ve tried to explain that I didn’t make up the music, only the lyrics but they won’t listen. So I have a meeting soon where we’re going to figure out what’s going to happen.

At the same time Jake and Barry walked out into the hall.

Allie: gotta go Peyton. I’ll talk to you as soon as I know more about this, and if you know somewhere I can stay till I get my own apartment in Atlanta, tell me because I can’t stay with you forever.

Peyton: sure… talk to you soon. I love you.

Allie: love you too.

I hung up and followed Jake and Barry into a room with a lot of instruments.

We sat down on some chairs and I sat down on a table.

Allie: tell me what’s going on.

Barry: Allie, sweetie. You’re an amazing girl with an amazing voice but that song… that’s going to ruin my plans.

Allie: and what are your plans. I really wanna know what you guys are planning for me. I don’t wanna sign anything that’s not what I want with my music. It’s my voice and it’s my choice. I know you’re supposed to manage me but I want to make some decisions too!

Barry: First thing is a cover album plus your single with Mrs. Cyrus. But what do you think your fans want to hear?

Allie: ME! They don’t care if it’s acoustic or not. All of my music can’t be this really beautiful acoustic music. The only reason I wrote the text to the other song like that was because of the music. I loved the music it made me wanna move around and dance. And if you don’t believe me let’s check it. And if we’re doing a cover album I wanna cover Miley’s songs. I have permission for that.

Jake: Allie where do you wanna go with all this?

Allie: I wanna be like my idols. I wanna be a mix between Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus.

Barry: Have you ever met Demi?

Allie: no.

Barry: Would you like to?

Allie: that would be amazing.

Barry: then you have to do as I say.

Allie: so you’re making me do something so that I meet my idol. Please… I’m a friend of Miley, if you don’t like what I’m doing, I’m just gonna hang out with Miley and Demi that way. End of story. I don’t wanna be your little puppy or doll and I’ve said that all the time. I’m not signing the contract with you guys unless I’m allowed to make my single with Austin.
