I could tell something was wrong. I could only hope it didn't have anything to do with me. I had tried to do things the right way, ever since the incident with her phone number. I was being honest with her, trusting her, and telling her everything about me she wanted to know. Except for one thing. One thing that I would never be foolish enough to tell her unless I wanted her to lose all trust in me.
The point is I'm trying. I really am. I just can't seem to get her to trust me. I'm not saying she has no reason not to trust me, I'm only saying that I wish she would completely forgive me. She says that it's all water under the bridge, but I can tell she still has some hesitation with what she does and doesn't tell me.
But none of that mattered as she was lying in my arms, crying into my shoulder. Even if she doesn't want to tell me why she's upset, I still wanted to try to make her feel better. Until I knew what was upsetting her, the only thing I could do was wait, so I did.
Later she calmed down and went home, but that didn't mean I was going to give up on trying to help her. I decided to ask some of my friends for advice.
"Did any of you guys notice Erin crying?" I asked.
"Of course we did, but she said it was just a bad dream, didn't she?" Niall replied.
"Do you think she meant it though?" Liam spoke the words I had been thinking.
Zayn was the first to reply, "I guess girls can be more emotional than guys sometimes, but I can't imagine anyone getting that upset over a nightmare."
"Well if something is bothering her, I hope she feels better now. She seems quite nice and it's pretty clear that you like her more than your saying you do." Louis spoke, changing the subject from something that would help me to something that would be really awkward for me. A chorus of 'oooh's followed his comment. Real mature guys.
"I told you, I like her but it's not like I'm in love. I barely know her." I responded.
Niall spoke up, "But you've never acted this way about anyone else. I could tell you were nervous before she showed up. I could hear you pacing around."
Zayn seemed to agree and spoke while nodding, "You were talking to yourself a little bit too. 'just stay calm Harry, she agreed to come over didn't she? Be cool Harry be cool'" He mocked me. I threw a pillow at him and announced that I was going to bed, not that they heard over their laughter. But for her, it was worth putting up with the taunting and teasing. I just hoped that I could figure out what was wrong.
