21. Something Good
I woke up early the morning after our date and immediately grabbed my phone. I pressed a random key and the screen lit up. I found myself staring at my home screen. No missed calls. No new messages.
When she didn't answer her phone last night I just assumed it was because she was getting ready for bed or something. I called her within minutes of leaving her. There was no way she was asleep. I assumed she would call back, or even just send a quick text to let me know she got my message. But there was still no word from her. Is she trying to tell me something? Did I do something wrong?
On our date I had begun a conversation we'd had many times before. Was I too boring and reptitive? I hadn't held her hand. Did she think I wasn't interested? That I was only taking her out as an apology? And what about when I complimented her outfit-did she find it typical and dull? And when I dropped her off...I took her hand and squeezed it lightly to say goodnight. Was that the right thing to do? I think that sent the wrong message. Earlier, she had kissed me, but I was to scared to show her I felt the same way? It was the perfect time to kiss her-it always happens. After the first date, the guy brings the girl home, then he says something that makes her blush, and after a moment of comfortable silence in the darkness of night (it's always at night or around sunset) heleans forward and their lips meet and they both feel the electricity. Then when they walk away the warmth of eachothers touch remains on their lips. Typical story, done to death, but it's good every time. That's what should've happened. I should've made it happen. Then maybe she would call me back. Is it too desperate to call her twice in a row?
Just then my phone buzzed
One New Message
Erin: Hey! Sorry i didnt answer yesterday-i was super tired. Im gonna go practice tennis now, and i kinda wanna practice alone 2day. Ill call when i get back!
So I replied-
Message to Erin: Have Fun!
After that she didn't answer. I wasn't sure what to think. She apologized for not responding, but then she said she wanted to practice alone. I have no idea how to interpret this. I just hope it's something good.
