We just finished playing volleyball. Might I say, the guys sucked at it! No joke!
I kept stealing glances at Louis. What was with him? He keeps his distance from me, he won't talk to me, and he acts like I'm not even there!
It's high-time I figure out what's going on here. I waited till he was alone.
He ignored me.
He pulled a headphone out of his ear. "What?" he asked.
"Ok. Uh, what's going on?" I asked him.
"What are you talking about?"
"Louis, you know what I'm talking about and I want an explanation. You've been avoiding me and acting like I'm invisible ever since our conversation at the airport. What the heck is going on?" I asked him.
He was silent for a while. "I just-" he paused.
"You just what?"
He got up and ran out. What the heck is going on here!?
"Madi!" I heard someone shout.
I turned to see Louis running to me. I excused myself from the group and went over to him. He pulled me behind a pillar.
"Louis, wh-" he cut me off by putting his finger on my lips.
"I need your help."
I was silent for a while. "Why would you need help with Aubrey? You don't even say a single word to her now."
"That's the thing. I don't know what to say."
I remembered what Aubrey had told me.
"What did she do that made you storm off and into the van at the airport?" I asked.
He paused. "She-I guess.......I-didn't know what....to say to her and I guess I just.......freaked out."
"And you need my help with.......?"
"I want to ask her on a date. But, I don't know what she likes and I want to ask her a unique way."
I had an idea. "Ok. Um, later this afternoon, you, Harry, and Aubrey will all come to my place. We'll chat so you can find out more about her and, when you think you're ready, just pull me aside and we'll come up with a unique way to ask her out."
He nodded and we left.
"Hey! You made it!" Madi said, when I walked into her house.
"Where's everyone else?" I asked.
"Well, Harry and Louis are in the den. Everyone else had plans." she answered.
I nodded, a little hesitant about Louis being here.
I walked into the den.
"Hey Aubrey!" both Harry and Louis said.
"Hi!" I answered, relieved that Louis actually said something to me.
I sat cross-legged on the floor. "So, what're we doing?"
"I think we should just chat." Madi answered, sitting next to Harry on the love seat.
"I never got to learn much about you two. Harry did but not me." Louis said.
"What do you want to know?" I asked.
"What's your favorite place?" he asked.
I thought about it. "The beach." I smiled.
"What about your favorite food?"
"Chick-fil-a!" I shouted, laughing.
We all laughed and just kept talking. After a little while, Louis asked to talk to Madi privately. They got up and left me and Harry in the den.
I turned to look at him to ask him something. He was........staring at me.
"Well?" I asked Louis.
"I think I have an idea on where to take her. I just don't know how to ask her on a date."
I thought about it and got an idea. "Well, knowing Aubrey, maybe you should do something creative. Like.......oh! Send her on a scavenger hunt!"
His face lit up. "Perfect." he whispered.
"Maybe you can come over tomorrow and I can help you set it all up?"
"Yeah, that should work." he said, "Massive Thank You, Madi!" he said, laughing and giving me a hug.
"C'mon. They're waiting." I said tugging on his shirt sleeve.
We stepped into the doorway. I stopped, jaw wide open, tears forming in my eyes. I'm not seeing this. I am NOT seeing this! I turned to Louis. He's the same way. He sees it too.
