I feel my cell phone buzz in my pocket, and quickly reach down and fish it out. "The Boyfriend: Hey babe, meet me in the park now!;)" I read. I smile and grab my jumper, quickly pulling it over my head and walk over to the window. I look around and made sure everything was perfect, and slowly open the window. I open it just enough and slip through the opening and onto the fire escape. I close it and leave a crack open and hurry down the steps. I sit down and let my eyes adjust to the darkness. I pull out my Iphone and click the lock button, 12:16. I hear footsteps and I quickly stuff my phone back into the pocket of my jean shorts. I press myself against the brick wall and watch as two men walk by the entrance to the ally. I wait about two minutes and quickly scurry to the entrance, and peak my head out, checking for more people.
The yellow street lights illuminate the gray cobblestone streets, giving everything an erie glow. I stand up and quickly make my way across the rode, reaching up and tucking my long hair behind my ears. I keep my eyes trained on the corner, knowing just beyond that lay the park, and John. A coldness shoots down my back as his name comes to my mind. My footsteps echo off the tall buildings, and a cold breeze starts to blow. I pull down my sleeves and cross my arms, and I pick up my pace. I round the corner and run into the park entrance. I stop at the edge of the lights reach and stare off into the darkness in front of me. "Why hello my dear," I hear a voice behind me hiss. I spin around to see a man stumbling towards me, in his hand tightly grips bottle of wine. I swallow my spit, hoping not to choke, and slowly back up. "John said you'd come. Your like his little puppy," he slurred, walking closer. "What are you talking about," I scream, "John loves me! He would never to anything to hurt me!"
"Well that's were your wrong my dear! John gave you up in a snap for a couple grams!" the drunk man chuckles. The tears are burning the back of my eyes, "Shut up! Just shut up!" I scream, "Your wrong! Your completely wrong!" I scream again. The man smiles and starts to run towards me, and I freeze. My mind is racing, and the man is closing in. I shut my eyes and let my instincts take over. I opened my eyes and sidestepped, the mans hand just missing my arm. I watch as he trips over his feet and crashes to the ground, his wine bottle exploding right in front of him. I start to scoot backwards, watching the man lying motionless on the ground. I turn and run, the tears flowing freely down my face. I run away from the park and away from my house. I hate everything that had to do with John, I hate him. I needed to get away from it all. I run until it hurts, slowing down gradually.
I find a lamp post and sit against it, wrapping my arms around the cold metal. I press my face against the post, letting the coldness sooth my windburned face. I hear foot steps behind me, but honestly, I don't care. They continue on, and I see a figure step out and squat down in front of me. "Please leave me be, I have money if you want it.." I moan an reach for my back pocket. "No love, I don't want your money, I want to help you." the figure replies, his voice deep and comforting. I sniff and wipe my eyes, "Why do you want to help me? Nobody wants to help me.." I sigh. "But I do!" the man says, offering his hand. I blink and start to reach my hand out, touching his warm finger tips. I slip my hand around his and he gently pulls me up.
My knees are shaky as I try to stand, and I try to step, but they give. The man catches me and places his hand on my waist. "It's ok, just take it slow." he croons. I nod, and take small steps. "What's your name love?" he whispers in my ear. "Zena," I smile. "Beautiful!" he says, I could tell he was smiling."What's your name?" I croak, my hand quickly shot up to cover my mouth. He laughed, "I'm Harry," and tightened his grip on my waist.
