Niall had been acting weird lately. Ever since our kiss, he had avoided me at all costs. Was I really that bad? I leafed through the clothes in the girl's closet. I had been borrowing their outfits as I hadn't exactly planned on staying here.
"Nellie," Hallie said popping her head in the door. "We're gonna leave in two hours. Get ready."
I nodded and plugged in the flat-iron. Then I found a cute strapless black dress. "Perfect," I whispered to myself.
I laid it on the bed and began to fuss with my makeup. I held different shades of eyeshadow to my face before deciding I was going to let Danielle do my makeup.
Then Niall's reflection appeared in my mirror. His blonde hair was styled in a quiff, and he was wearing a black dress-shirt with a green tie. Just as instructed. His thumbs tucked into the belt loops of his dark jeans.
"Hi." He said, leaning casually against the door frame. He glanced around awkwardly at the room before seeing the bra El had left on her bed this morning. Quickly he looked away and turned his attention to me.
It was those damn blue eyes every time.
I turned away and walked into the bathroom, shutting the door behind me. I leaned my ear against the door, listening to Niall's footsteps grow louder as he approached the door.
"So, um. Nellie," He whispered into the door. From the thud on the frame, I knew he had rested his head against the door also.
All that was separating us now was the door. I resisted the urge to fling open the door now and crush my lips against his. Self restraint, I told myself. Fight your emotions.
I tied my hair in a messy bun on the top of my head. Deep breath in, deep breath out. I opened the door. Niall, obviously caught off guard, stumbled forward. I caught his chest and pushed him up again. He had abs.
"Thanks," He blushed. I smiled flirtatiously at him. Nothing wrong with teasing. "So um, about the show tonight..."
I found the scarf I had bought earlier and wrapped it around my neck. Dani was right, it did look amazing. "What about it?"
He rubbed the back of his neck. "What are we--how are we," he paused before staring deep into my eyes. "How are we presenting ourselves?"
I looked at him quizzically. "I don't understand."
He turned away from me and placed his hands on the windowsill. "How do we want people to see us? What do we want them to think?"
I blinked. "What are you trying to say?"
"Gosh, Nellie! Are we dating or not?" He said exasperated, throwing his hands in the air.
My thoughts began to swim. Did I want a relationship with Niall? Was I ready for it? I turned my focus back to the mirror. "I--" My mind was floating again.
He ran his hands through his perfect blonde hair. His amazing blue eyes just awaiting my response. His toned abs underneath that thin dress shirt.
I turned to face him. "Niall. I can't. I just can't." Then I turned on my heel and left the girl's room, trying not to think about him. And the opportunity I had just turned down.
