I woke up with Hallie laying on my chest. Her hair had been thrown around in many different directions, so I brushed it out of her face. She must have woken up at this, because her eyes fluttered open and she turned to look at me.
"Morning, beautiful," I said bending down to kiss her.
She smiled at first, but a frown quickly appeared to cover it. "So it wasn't a dream." She looked around at the backseat of the van.
"What do you mean?" I asked, now helping her up so we could continue driving.
"Our fight," she said quietly.
"Hallie, all relationships go through that phase. I mean I've watched Louis and Eleanor go at it, and it's not pretty. Makeup and carrots being thrown everywhere! But they're still together." I quickly moved to the other side of the van so I could open the door to the passenger seat for her.
"Such a gentleman," she laughed, before responding, "I know, maybe I'm just worried that the great time I'm having now is going to end."
I hugged her tightly. "That's never going to happen."
She smiled and got in the car. I went around the other side to the driver's seat.
"So, where are we driving to anyways?" Hallie asked, buckling her seat belt then reaching across the bench seat in the front to buckle mine.
"With all the delays, I highly doubt the plans I had are still on," I muttered, pushing my foot down on the gas.
Hallie then started rummaging through the junk in the glove box. She seemed disinterested for the first five minutes, before finally finding something worth her time. Hiding it from my view, she popped a CD into the player.
She sat excitedly as the CD loaded, and I couldn't imagine what CD she had found.
Then the familiar, "Da da-dum, da-dum, dum dum da-dum." Blasted over the speakers.
I laughed and waited for Liam's voice to come soaring through.
"You're insecure, don't know what for!" Liam sang out to us.
I kept my eyes on the road, but silently waited for my part to come on.
When it did, I just silently listened. I had never listened to myself fully on a CD before. It was weird.
"Aren't you gonna sing?" Hallie asked, squeezing my hand.
"I think the better question to ask is, aren't you gonna sing with me?" I said looking into her bright blue eyes sparkling back at me.
She laughed and sang out the chorus. "Baby, you light up my world like nobody else!"
"The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed," I sang in harmony with her. Her voice was actually really beautiful.
"But when you smile at the ground it's not hard to tell! You don't kno-ow! You don't know you're beautifu-ul!" We both sang together, before she dropped out to let me finish the song.
"That's what makes you beautiful!" I sang.
Immediately after the song finished, Hallie started pretending to fangirl.
"Oh my gosh! Oh.my.GOSH. I just sang with Harry Styles!! Ahhh!" She laughed, waving her hands across her face in an attempt to calm herself down.
I laughed with her. "You did, and you totally rocked it!"
"Thanks." She said, as 'Gotta Be You' came on over the speakers.
We drove in silence for a little bit, with the song as our background music. Eventually, she grabbed my hand and gave it a small squeeze.
"It's gotta be you." I said, looking into her beautiful blue eyes. She smiled back before yelling, "Harry! Watch out!"
Immediately, I hit the brakes and looked at what was blocking our path on the small road.
