13. Huge Surprises

Brianna's POV "The footprints and shattered glass point to a homicide rather than suicide so most likely it is a murder," the detective said. Liam hugged me again and I couldn't cry this time. My eyes had run dry. I never thought that anyone would murder my dad. He was the best dad any girl could ever have. One of the detectives asked if I could answer some questions for them. I nodded my head and me and Liam followed them to my dad's office. It was just how I remembered it. His laptop sitting on the big wooden desk, next to the printer. There were papers strung everywhere, probably business stuff. When Liam tried to walk in, the detective said, "I'm sorry, sir, but this is a private interrogation. According to the law, nobody other than the detective or officer and the person being interrogated. Liam nodded and we slipped out of each others grip and went our seperate ways. The questioning lasted about half an hour. They were mostly straightforward questions. I would have cried through most of it, but I couldn't. I finally walked out when it was done and Liam was right in front of the door, ready to hug me. I jumped into his arms and wrapped my legs around his waist. We kissed and we heard a cough from behind us. We pulled away and he set me down. "Well, I guess we should probably leave," Liam said. "We will call you when we have the date of the funeral. And you will probably need to come here in a couple of days to pick up several belongings Mr. Greene gave to you in his will...including this house," the detective said, staring at a piece of paper. Holy...shit!!! I cupped my hands over my mouth. I never knew that he had given me his house. "What else did he leave me?" I asked. "Pretty much everything he owns, excluding his job," he replied. I couldn't believe it. "We better go," Liam said. "Okay, we will call you," the detective replied. I felt Liam pick me up and carry me bridal style to the car. Niall and Kayleigh were in the back still, snuggling. I noticed Kayleigh had been crying a little. I smiled a little. She was crying..for me. I looked up at Liam and he smiled. I saw a tear run down his cheek. He was crying for me, too. I loved him and knew I was gonna hate it when he had to leave. He opened the car door and gently set me down in th passenger seat. He shut the door and I pulled on my seatbelt. He hopped in the driver's seat and we left and headed back to my place.
