The careers

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send a boy and a girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live tv Sixteen year old Larah Thors regards it as a death sentence when she volunteers to take her boyfriends sister place in the Hunger Games and her boyfriend,Cato, gets chosen aswell. Fighting for both Cato and Larah is second nature. They are natural contenders being from district 2. Things may crumble when both Cato and Larah fight to keep each other alive. And to save the other they must sacrifice their own life. But to save him she will have to make choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love. There can only be one winner

3. The tributes of distict 2

"Good afternoon citizens of district two. Welcome to this years reaping. The capitol has put together a short video this year for you all to watch," She announced. She then moved off to the side where the chairs were and the video started on the large screen above the podium. I didn't really care much about the stupid video. Instead, I looked at the capitol woman. The same as every year Cherise Apliton was hosting the reaping. Her curly cyan hair was in a neat little bob and she was wearing the most hideous outfit I'd ever seen. A cyan suit jacket to match her hair and a gold puffy skirt. Seriously, the Capitol fashion shocks me. Like all the capitol people, she had caked her face in as much makeup as she could. She was really quite scary. The video ended and she strutted back over to the microphone. "Alright. I hope you all enjoyed that as much as I did," she said. We remained silent. "I better not keep you all waiting," she said and my stomach dropped. I was dreading this. "Ladies first!" she said and walked over to the glass bowl. She dug her hand in the bowl and grabbed a slip of white paper. I looked over at the boys section, searching for Cato. I saw him looking scared as hell. He looked at me with the same expression. "The 75th hunger games female tribute from distict two is..." she said and my attention turned immediantly to her. I shut my eyes wishing that she wouldn't call out my name. "Callie Parker!" she announced. NO! That was even worse than me going in. She was only twelve for crying out loud! I couldn't let this happen to her. No way was she going into the arena. I looked over at Cato who was in pure shock. He looked like he'd seen a ghost. Callie was walking up the stairs to shake Cherises hand. She looked like she was going to burst into tears. "Is there any volunteers to take miss Callie Parkers place in the games?" Cherise asked. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. "I VOLUNTEER!" I yelled. I wouldn't let this happen to her. "Come up on stage girl," she said gesturing me onto the stage. I slowly walked out of the crowd up onto the stage. "And your name is...?" she asked. "Larah Thors," I whispered, my legs shaking in fear. "Give it up for Larah! This years female tribute!" Cherise yelled out over the microphone. "Alright settle down, it's time for the boys," she said reaching for a slip of paper which had the male tributes name etched onto it. "And this years male tribute is... Cato Parker!" she announced. I think my heart stopped beating. Either that or someone has ripped it out of my stomach. I swear to god I hope someone volunteers to take his place. Cato walked up onto the stage and shook Cherises hand. "Would you be little Callies older brother?"she asked him. Cato nodded silently. "Does anyone volunteer to take young Cato's place?" she asked. The crowd remained silent. "Alright, it looks like this years male tribute is Cato Parker!" she announced. I clamped my hand over my mouth to keep from screaming.
