The careers

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send a boy and a girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live tv Sixteen year old Larah Thors regards it as a death sentence when she volunteers to take her boyfriends sister place in the Hunger Games and her boyfriend,Cato, gets chosen aswell. Fighting for both Cato and Larah is second nature. They are natural contenders being from district 2. Things may crumble when both Cato and Larah fight to keep each other alive. And to save the other they must sacrifice their own life. But to save him she will have to make choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love. There can only be one winner

5. The Capitol

I stepped out of the train and onto the pavement. Cato was right behind me and he wrapped his arm around me pulling me close to him. Like if he let go he would never see me again. We walked through the sea of people waving and putting on fake smiles to the crowd. We arrived at the place we would be staying. The Training Centre. You could hear another train screech to a stop and the cameras now focusing their attention on the new arrivals. Probably district 3. The closest district to the Capitol after us. We were led to the second highest floor. Of course district 1 would have the best. I walked in and looked around the room. It was beautiful. And probably better than the other districts. The ground was white tiles, the walls were gold and everything else silver. It was gorgeous. And so big. "Alright, the recap of the reapings will be on in a minute," Cherise said siting on the couch. I went and plopped on the couch waiting for the recap to begin. "This would be an excellent time to see who your up against," Enobaria said. I nodded as it came on. First it showed district 1. A boy named Marvel and a gorgeous girl named Glimmer. District 2. Me volunteering for Callie, Cato. And so on. District 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. There was only a few that stuck in my mind. Asmall girl from 11. A sly girl from 5. A cute curly haired boy from 4. And the girl from district 12. From what I've seen she has the most fight. The first person to volunteer from 12. I mean volunteering isn't such a big thing but from district 12 it would be. This is their first. "Go get some sleep, you have a long day tomorrow," Cherise instructed. I went into my room and looked around. There was a large king sized bed in the middle, a large bathroom, a wall that you could change the scenery and a big wardrobe. I walked into the bathroom and had a shower. The jets spraying water at me from every side. Then I hopped into the bed and tried to get some sleep. I failed. I stayed awake for hours, staring at the ceiling, before deciding to get out of the room. I crept out into the hallway to Cato's room. I had barely spoken to him. The door creaked open and I tiptoed in trying hard not to make a sound, just incase he was asleep. Luckily for me, he wasn't. He wasn't even attempting to fall asleep. He was sitting upright on the bed, playing with the controller that controls the wall. He was changing it over and over again. Forests, mines, cows, the city, an orchid, and the sea. "Watcha doin?" I asked. It scared him, causing him to jump and fall off the bed. "You nearly gave me a heart attack!" he said. "Sorry," I said laughing. "What did you say?" he asked chuckling. "I said, what are you doing?" I repeated. "Nothin, I can't fall asleep," he said. "Neither can I, maybe we'll be able to if we were together," I suggested. "Yeah, maybe. Come on, let's give it a shot," he said. He got in his bed and so did I. It was comforting having his strong arms wrapped around me. I felt safe even though I knew I definatly wasn't. It did help. By the time my eyes closed, I was crashed. I woke up the next morning by someone yelling. It was Cherise. "Up and rise. We have a busy day ahead of us," she said cheerily. I yawned and stretched my arms groggily. I had no idea what to expect of the day. I walked into my room to get changed into my clothes. Not all the districts were here yet. Just up to district 8. We had some breakfast before heading down. I had scrambled eggs on toast. We walked into a room from the elevator and was bombarded by a group of people. Apparently my prep team. We walked into a seperate room by myself and was stripped of all my clothes. They waxed my skin, moisterised it, filed my nails, plucked my eyebrows and some more stuff. I didn't take as much work as the other districts as we were a more clean and wealthy district. My stylist walked in the room. His face caked in makeup and hair like a rainbow. "Hi, I'm Taringo. Your stylist. This year we're going for a more goddess look. You will be a goddess and Cato will be a god. You really are gorgeous darling," he said. I felt comfortable around him. I didn't know why I just did. He walked out of the room for a second and came back with my costume so I could try it on. It was stunning.
