More Than One Direction

When Emily gets the job of her dreams, a back up dancer for One Direction, she is less than thrilled to discover her dancing partner is Louis, not the guy she's desperately in love with, Niall. But things take a turn when Niall seems smitten with her as well, and what will happen when Liam seems to like her too? Will Louis's or Liam's feelings get in the way of a seemingly perfect couple? Or will Emily discover that perhaps what she's been looking for has been dancing by her side all along?

10. I Want

I have never been in a coach before. But I'm sure this one cost Liam a lot of money.
The horse is a beautiful white mare, and the driver has an adorable top hat on. The coach looks very classic, wooden painted a delicate cream color.
Once we're inside, I notice a large picnic basket sitting on the bench opposite from Liam and me.
I take a good look at what Liam is wearing- dress pants, leather shoes, and a dress shirt with a jacket over it- all black.
He looks pretty dashing, and it's a little impressive to know he put so much effort into a casual date with a girl who's fallen for one of his best friends.
"So what's in the picnic basket?" I ask to break the silence.
"That is a surprise," he informs me.
We sit there in more silence for a little while as I stare down at the rose. I start to feel pretty guilty that I can't think of anything to talk about.
He must sense it too, for he decides to ask the question I've been hoping he won't ask, "So did you kiss Niall?"
I sigh, "No, Liam, I told you I wouldn't."
"I'm just making sure. I wouldn't want your first kiss in the band to be with the guy who hasn't even asked you out properly."
"Oh, and bribing me with a puppy is the proper way of asking me out?"
"He wasn't a bribe, just a little convincing," he says with a smile.
"And how did you know it would take convincing?" I ask slyly.
"Because I know you're in love with Niall."
I swallow hard hearing him say those words again, because I know love is dangerous. Love takes time. And I have months on tour to fall in love with Niall, but for now I want to take control of my emotions.
Liam notices my harsh silence and apologizes, then questions why I'm not being up front with my feelings.
I don't want to be a downer on this date, so I just shake my head.
"I don't want to talk about Niall; I'm on a date with you," is all I say.
He nods to this, and a small smile creeps across his face.
I don't want to give him any false hope; I just want to have a good time.
"We're here," he says as he opens the door of the coach and hops out, then holds the door open for me.
There is a large building with a dome at the top; I'm not exactly sure what the building could be.
Liam leans into the coach and grabs the picnic basket, then talks quietly to the coach driver. Then, he grabs my hand and leads me to a small door towards what appears to be the back of the building.
We walk into a large dark room.
He leaves my side, which scares me for a bit, but his distant voice assures me that everything will be okay.
I can hear him toying with something, followed by a loud humming noise.
Suddenly, a billion twinkling stars appear above our heads, and I can see Liam's smiling face moving closer to me.
"A planetarium?" I say with probably a little too much enthusiasm.
"You like it?" he asks me.
I nod my head, "I love planetariums! They're like my favorite things ever!"
I can't contain my excitement as I walk around beaming at the sky above me.
When I finish walking around, I find myself face to face with Liam. He's smiling at me as if he's just won the lottery. And I can't help but smile too at how amazing this date has started.
His face starts getting closer to mine, but the realization of what he's trying to do doesn't hit me until he's extremely close.
"So what's in the picnic basket?" I say just when his face gets an inch away from mine.
I know it probably hurts his feelings, to reject him like that, but I need to consider my own feelings. I really like Niall, and I don't want to risk ruining what we might have. I just want to have a nice evening with Liam and go home to see Niall. I do not want to kiss Liam.
He gives a huge evident sigh, loosens his smile, then sits down on the floor next to the picnic basket.
"We can't have a picnic dinner underneath the real night sky, so I figured this would be all right."
"It's really wonderful," I say as I sit beside him, "what are we eating?"
He takes out first a small candle and lights it, giving me a hopeful smile.
Then he takes out a container, which I can't see the contents of, followed by a bottle of apple juice and a white box.
"Close your eyes," he tells me, and I oblige.
I can hear him opening the container,  then some silence, then him making soft blowing sounds.
He instructs me to open my mouth, and I do so.
Then I taste something warm being placed in my mouth; so I close it and discover the best tasting penne a la vodka in my life.
I open my eyes quickly.
"Ohmygosh Liam, that is amazing!"
He laughs at my excitement.
"I know it's your favorite, so I had this really great Italian restaurant make it. Along with..." he pauses as he opens the small white box.
"Cannolis!" I exclaim, "Liam, how did you know these are my favorites, and the apple juice?"
I cannot hold in my excitement as I let everything sink in. The planetarium, the coach ride, the white rose, the food- it's all so amazing.
Liam and I share the penne, the rest of it is just as delicious as the first bite. I ask him how he knew what my favorite foods are, and he tells me how Niall told him and suggested the Italian restaurant.
I can't help but to feel angry at Niall, but I don't let Liam know that as we have a lengthy conversation about various things.
Even as I talk to Liam, I can't help but think about Niall.
He just allows the boys to walk all over him. First he lets Louis convince him into "not bothering" liking me. Now he's giving Liam suggestions for our date? I just don't understand how he likes me so much if he's not making any attempts to fight for me.
Unless he's lying about liking me to put some sick twist on my already complicated situation....
How can you claim to like someone but then completely ignore them, let someone convince you into not trying for no reason whatsoever, then suggest to your friend how to have an awesome date with them?
I just don't understand.
Liam snaps me out of my thoughtful daze, which must've interrupted our conversation somehow, so we can eat the cannolis.
But I still cannot stop thinking about Niall.
He obviously doesn't like me. I just got my hopes up for nothing. And now I'm ruining a perfect date with a great guy, not even trying to see if any feelings could be there. I must be an idiot.
Liam and I finish our cannolis, and I look at him to give him a thankful smile.
He laughs, "You got some stuff on ya More Than," he says as he scoots over closer to me.
He looks down at my lips as he slowly wipes bits of cannoli off of my face. I can't take my eyes off of his flawless face. How did I end up on a date with Liam from One Direction? He slowly lets his hand down, not taking his eyes off my lips.
Then, his eyes slowly move up, meeting with mine. He turns his head slightly as he runs his fingers up my arm.
I feel the goosebumps start to form as I move my face closer to his.
Before I can even think about it, Liam's lips meet with mine.
Butterflies soar through my stomach as I lift my hand to his face, assuring he won't move away too soon.
It is the best kiss I've ever experienced; it's soft yet meaningful and it fills my heart with happiness. Before anything more can happen, Liam's phone rings.
I pull away quickly due to the ring startling me, which he responds with by dropping his head and grunting angrily.
I immediately regret pulling away, but when I see Liam's reaction after he picks up the phone, I know something terrible has happened.
"Okay, we'll be right there," he tells whoever is on the phone.
He hangs up the phone quickly and turns to me with fear in his eyes.
"It's Louis," he says, "he's in the hospital."
My heart sinks. I'm speechless and my stomach feels like someone has punched me viciously.
I pack the stuff up quickly as Liam turns the stars off and calls for a cab.
We wait silently for a few minutes for the cab to arrive. When we get in the car, Liam calls the coach driver to cancel the ride home.
Besides that, we sit in silence for the entire ride to the hospital.
The silence kills me though as the same thought repeats itself in my head- I want to kiss Liam again...badly.
